That was pretty rude to ask Tony about sleeping with a black woman. He was very gracious to even answer as a married man with children. He’s playing a character as Fitz. Together with Kerry they do a fabulous job of making it believable. That’s why they call it acting. Be kind. Respectable. Use your smarts.

Not surprise at all that Tony has dated a black woman. He seems so in tuned with the ones who has surrounded him (Kerry, Kandi Alexander, Lynn Whitfield, Gina Ravera and Nia Long). He was even comfortable during this interview which let's you know on a whole he's comfortable being around bros and sistas. Great interview. I wish the world could learn to love beyond color lines genuinely. The world would be a much better place no doubt.

I am not implying that African Americans are different species. The point I am making is it's great to see the harmony between white and black. Tony displays this often and has been instrumental in his actions. He cemented it by hiring a half black cast and half white cast for his show "The Divide" making a brother the leading man. All races need to learn how to get along that was my ending statement that you neglected to read apparently.

Estelle Nim Not a different species, but a different culture. It'd be the same (to me) if an African American friend was at home in my community (Nigerian) - even when we black people look the same, never mistake that cultures are long and diverse, and some people don't adapt as well as others might. So Tony's the type who's at ease with all different backgrounds (unsurprising when you read of how he's conducted his life - he's always leaned into getting experience, rather than running in the small Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer circle). I know my parents had a strange time at first interacting with Americans (white _and_ black) when they first came here. Culture shock is realer than people think...

TG really, really loves KW with his whole heart, Just listen to him says it all at 13:40. He doesn't hide his affection for her, sounds so confident and the words just come naturally. KW, you're a lucky woman to have a love like that from such a great guy. I'm just in awe of this guy and he is super talented!

We talk about not wanting people to fetishize us but then ask them questions, while licking our lips, like, “Uh, have you eva been wit dat uh, chocolate berry?” We literally fetishize ourselves. And it was undeniably awkward for this man. He was smiling, but you could see it was discombobulating.

Ugh is right. Don't speak for "we", I cringed when she said that. Speaking as a black woman married to a white man i find her attiitude ignorant and offensive, fetishizing IRR. Tony Goldwyn only gets asked this question when interviewed by Sway, Joyner, etc. Arsenio Hall actually used the term "jungle fever". I had to look at my calendar to confirm it was 2015.

i dont get it, people are calling out the lady for being thirsty for asking TG the question about being with black women, but there was a different reaction when Sway was fawning over Bellamy when she was on the show. Is it ok for the black man to crush on the white woman, but not ok for the black woman to crush on the white man?

deldee I can't speak for everyone, but for myself, I think the way she articulated herself made her seem distasteful/thirsty. For instance, for her to say, "I think I speak for all black women, but when Fitz was doing those love scenes with Olivia Pope, we live vicariously through Olivia Pope. But what would be the icing on the cake is if Tony was with a black woman in real life." and then say, "... Cause I always like to see how art reflects life.. Obviously we've seen Fitz, the white man is very comfortable disrobing a black women, Olivia Pope, makes me feel very special.." I think people are interpreting it as, "I feel special to have a white man," versus something more positive as "I feel special to see diversity," or "I feel special because you're my #MCM." Or it may be something else..As with Sway, when he talked about Bellamy, it wasn't about race and was merely about flirting. It's perfectly fine for either to have a crush.

I think Scandal has made in some way black-white dialogue easier in the US. I am a French citizen and I have just discovered this TV show and I enjoyed watching a lot because it is so well written and played actually. All the actors seem seo decent and friendly people too. 😊

He is such a sweet heart. I met him a couple of months ago. Gorgeous in person and sooo kind. The Divide was excellent. Loved it and LOVE SCANDAL...I don't take it seriously ( I am a GLADIATOR to the 10th power) but It's till just a show.

Point is...there are fewer black women/white men relationship depicted onscreen or off almost see more gay couples. We know the scenario exists but it's hardly commercial. Wasn't offended by the comment as a black woman myself. 👍 we need to see more of humanity mixing no matter the color of skin as long as the mix is represented in the crayon box btw white is a color and can reproduce we should be good...

She's almost the most powerful woman in DC, but she said it like living vicariously through her because she's messing around with a white man. I mean, REALLY?! Just f*cking stop! Besides her question is really geared behind the UNDENIABLE AND UNMATCHED CHEMISTRY b/w TG and KW. Most love scenes don't come close. Besides Tony is constantly asked about his attraction and Kerry. On the Aresino Hall show he was asked about Black women coming on the him more and he said it was a no brainer. Anyone with a pulse the attraction but we know the TG and KW are professionals and OLITZers are just having fun. Finally, 99.9% of OLITZers don't even see race. Most of the race baiting comes from people who walk by BM and WW and yet want to call BW traitors. No one is saying you want White "meat" (not meet).

Tony dated black women, he didn't marry one and shared a life with one. This is sad, if black women are excited by this. Dating and marriage are 2 different things. Robert De Niro married, has children , openly shared a life with black women, David Bowie has been with his black wife Iman for 20 years, and raised kids together, why would any black woman be excited that Tony discussed passed relationships or flings? He's married to a white woman and raised 2 daughters with her. End of Story, being excited is just sad on our parts.jmo

Sorry I have to disagree, his favorite line has nothing to do with reality. That line has everything to do with the context in which Olitz was created. If Tony isn't married and have kids with a black woman, I don't think black women should act like it's a badge of honor that he was able to spread a black woman's legs a few times. A black woman didn't have his kids, he didn't bring her into his all white world.None of that, Tony plays a character, Kerry plays a character. After all these years, he's still married to his wife, end of story. Robert DeNiro didn't see anything wrong with having public relationships, and families with black women, so why are black women impressed by Tony Goldwyn? Like I said, he married and claimed his white wife, folks need to move on. And sure he has chemistry with Kerry, but that doesn't mean he's going to leave his nice secured elite Jewish world for her, sorry not happening. I'd say claim who claims you, if not put this in perspective, Tony is an actor, that's it. jmo

Actually what's sad is that you feel some type of way about the race of the person he ended up marrying. Keep in mind that Kerry dated a couple of white guys (engaged to at least one) prior to marrying a black man. The difference between Robert D and Tony G is that Robert has a preference to mainly black women and Tony seems all inclusive. Are you saying, it's ok for a white man to only date and marry a black woman, but it's a problem if he dates a black woman but ends up not marrying one? So by that logic, I'm guessing that you're ok with a black man only wanting to date and marry a white women? I mean that's basically what Robert D did right, but on the opposite end. I have a feeling that if a black man excluded black woman from his dating pool, that would not sit well with you. My point is, unlike you, maybe Tony didn't see the women he dated as being from a specific race but possibly just someone he was really digging at the time. People do that sometimes.

Stace Webler I don't think he is lying, the show was new then & they were guarded in some of their answer but now the show is a phenomenon, he simply feels more open to the truth. He had NO reason to lie. Matter a fact, if he had said no, then I would thought he wasn't being truthful.

Stace Webler I do not think he is lying. I think when he did that Arsenio Hall show at that point he had not been with a black woman intimately. He may have been shocked at the overall acceptance by black women,,maybe white women never made him feel that way..I truly believe he was with you know who...He should have just said, he did not become intimate with a black woman until Scandal...lol..Like I said, he went so far to answer the question might as well tell all..People already know and been suspected....haha!!
