The "scapula" or shoulder blade plays a huge roll for players who can drive the baseball and whip the barrel. Scap issues are caused from poor stance or set up. We want to be in a place where we engage the scap. Flaring the elbows out and pinching the shoulder blade puts you in a position for when you release your barrel you can create "whip". It's even more important to maintain scap engagement during the load and stride. If you lose the engagement (tension) you will be right back to where you started.
Keep the scap engaged in order to drive the baseball and create whip as the barrel releases to the ball.
