Scarbee Classic EP-88s Play Thru

Improvising on a handful of the factory presets from this fantastic product. I'm using a Yamaha CP4 as my controller. The built in FX in the unit are capable of a wide variety of EP sounds as the presets demonstrate.
The sound is direct from Kontakt into Pro Tools with no additional processing.
All the effects are done inside of Kontakt as part of the programming.

Loved "Hands On" preset, less tine, more bark - just the way I like it. Overall, it sounds great, sounds very authentic. Scarbee is a trusty developer, he's yet to disappoint

This is SO very sweet and brings the memory of George Duke back to me. He will be missed for many years to come. Thank you, Peter and thank you to Thomas Scarbee and your team for the years of work that created these sounds.

Pete Calandra, in your opinion, how does the Scarbee Classic EP-88s compare to Soniccouture The Canterbury Suitcase? Which one sounds and feels more like a real Rhodes EP? I love this demo and your playing BTW!

Hi I have not played the Canterbury Suitcase.I have the EP73 deconstructed by them that i like but the Scarbee is a great program. Thank you for the kind words!

Very nice playing. It sounds lovely and able to cover a wide range of tones. Any thoughts on how this compares to the Keyscape Rhodes (or other high end virtual Rhodes)? Do the new features like 'advanced release sample system' noticeably improve the playing experience?

Hi... This is the best 'tine' style software library i have ever played. There are modeled tine piano's in my yamaha CP4 that are also great but they are not Kontakt based. The Keyscape Rhodes is fine but i like playing this one much better. And i owned a 1975 Rhodes 73 stage then a 1977 73 Suitcase back in the day and currently own a pristine 1972 Mark 1a and i would rather record with this one.

Thanks for that. I own and enjoy a number of software e-pianos but I'm aware a more satisfying option is possible. Tempted to buy this new Scarbee (while it's on special offer thru-out December).

Isnt saying that you prefer the kontakt version over your pristine 1972 mk1 a bit too much ?

+telkmx not for the kind of recording I do for a living. This stays in tune and I can edit the midi performance as well as add great sounding fx and all sorts of automation. Plus it's easily recall should I need to rework a project. Can't do that with my real Rhodes.

This performance, showing all the presets in the Scarbee Classic EP-88s, doesn't do justice to this vst. Its strongest point is its responsiveness. In order to achieve this, calibrate the velocity (in my case it is a little harder), then this beast comes to life. It can bark as a monster, but it can be silk smooth as well. I have the version that comes with Native Instruments, but this one, is in another league, although from the same developer.

Yeah, Scarbee Mark I and A-200 were the beasts as well.

@@Fornicras A-200 yes, Mark I i always felt didnt capture the real thing of my old Fendy.....this is way closer :)
