In the worst case scenario, hate to imagine, will be a situation where she'd have to defend herself from a violent migrant, or one of those cartel rings, and even if she defended herself and her property successfully, unhurt, but she'd be prosecuted and might be jailed for hurting a unknown migrant or cartel member trying to hurt her. Most drugs enter US through legal ports of entry, not vast, open border. So the drugs that are actually taking the lives of people here in the United States - methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, fentanyl - almost universally come through the ports of entry along the southern border - so that is people that carry them on their bodies or even in their bodies or cars or vehicles. And then the second way is through the international postal mail service. And remember these are immigrants, they very rarely carry a gun, that's less than 0.02%.

I have worked and visited the area where she lives, and I know for a fact that it's a free-for-all when it comes to illegal immigration and drug smuggling. I too have seen people crossing the desert with backpacks, and I have also found numerous items / trash left behind. Though they are hampered by the current admisitration, the US Border Patrol does a great job, but they are playing a game of whack-a-mole at this point.

I recommend the Savage .338 lapua. Good riffle for the $. It will give you a range advantage on whatever they are likely carrying. Don’t skimp on the scope.

The fact that she is all out in that area away on her own and that route is wide open. The government is slow on being proactive. The first time she informed the government of what happens. Officers should have been dispatched and a location base should be in place to detour or detain anyone taking that route. The government ignoring her risk of danger and safety says a lot about what Government take serious and values. Terrible to leave her vulnerable that way!!!!
