For those of you just joining us, welcome! We're Vic and Jo and we've been narrowboating around the UK for the last few years on our 54ft narrowboat Zero. Two years ago we decided to give up our jobs in the city and add another boat to our fleet in hope of turning it into a travelling cafe and becoming full time boating baristas.

We lived on ours for 12yrs and towards the end of that time we felt very vulnerable ,and we didn't choose that life to be stressed, so moved into a bungalow in countryside best move ever 😊

Never ignore your gut instincts, plus most people acknowledge the personal space around the boat - almost an invisible barrier telling you it's someone's home & you respect that & stay back unless you have something urgent to relay to them. I'd have felt exactly the same & skedaddled as fast as possible too. Loved seeing you again, keep enjoying the fresh air & freedom of boat life. ❤

Sorry to hear Jo had an unwelcome visitor. I'm not surprised she was a little concerned over the experience. That must be a problem with mooring up against the towpath. You never know who is around, or what their intentions are. Take care please.

I received my cook book it is a lovely book so colorful and very easy to read love all the photos and stories about the recipes I am from England but now live in California so being able to cook a good old English cake is just wonderful thank you

Feeling safe is important--and all the more so when you have a little one. It's a frequent topic of conversation and comparison in my area (greater Vancouver,BC). I am always amazed at the differences in prices of food and other items you show in your videos. Sometimes I think, "Sure, I could live on a narrowboat," but then I see other costs that to me are unimaginable. The price tag on that car was over-the-top. No way I would be tempted to buy a car at those prices!

I got the book today! I’m so excited! Although I’m a native San Franciscan, I now live in southeast Texas with one of my children and his family. I’ll have to eat all the goodies myself, since they’re all vegans, but I’m not terribly sad about that, to tell the truth! Here’s my fantasy: “Will you have another piece of lemon drizzle, Rose?” “Oh, if you insist, Rose!”

I've spent a fair bit of time on canals fishing, and there are some very odd characters about. Most people are friendly enough, but for some canals and river banks are an environment where they can take their craziness for a walk. Whether they are just neurologically "different" and eccentric, or medicated, or have darker ambitions, the waterside definitely brings them out to play. Hope for the best, be prepared for the worst and always follow your gut.

Great vlog as always! Like you say the guy was probably harmless but you have a right to enjoy your home without people invading your personal space. We've had people knock to tell us we've left the headlight on, and another time that we'd dropped a bank card on the towpath, both of which were very appreciated but otherwise people tend to respect that it's your home 😊

I have watched Vic on many occasions scooping out water from the Canoe with a bucket. That would wreck my head. I would get a small rechargeable 12v battery and a pump to empty it. Work smarter not harder mate 😄

i hope you take comfort that iv never heard of any incident with anyone on a boat, we felt the same living in our campervan for 3 and a half years a bit venerable , but nothing ever happened in the uk , and we got as far as Egypt and lived in the mid east in it , this was before mobile phones , enjoy your special time ,it will go quick . best regards to your family , Jed

You should be more than very proud of your book Joe, well all three of you should as you have all put in to make it happen. Maybe the fact you have sold them all may mean you think again about another as not only is it a brilliant baking book it is also a connection to your followers to own. Cost wise if it was double it's present price I would have still preordered a copy as I am sure a lot of people would. The mark you may not believe is people actually really like you, what you do and show, and of course the strong family life, the book sold out only goes to prove that fact. The book is a balance of a lot of Joe, and the rest VIc and William and a pleasure to own and handle. So maybe think book 2 down the road and at a good guess you will not have them to long and sorry sold out will be the norm.

You drink a LOT of coffee, Victor, do you never drink green tea? Much healthier than coffee with its artificial buzz. I switched to green tea, from black tea, back in January this year, and I have lost 12.7 cms from my waist, and my weight has gone down from 107 kg, to 86 kg. Feeling so much betterer. Always trust a "spookie", it may save a lot of hassle and worries. I love the new use of double entendre with your post titles. Great to see if I can work it out before the "reveal". And no matter how many times I see Holly, I just get amazed at how beautiful she is, compared to the normal bows of the ordinary boats. She cuts the water very well indeed. And the colour scheme really, REALLY works. As to, "Well, it might be a bit of their fault". That is a CLASSIC.

I'd like to see a video of Vic's tips and tricks of narrowboating. The way you work with the ropes is really interesting and fun to watch. I've noticed before how slowly and gracefully you handle the boat and lassoo posts etc.

Hey Will tell your mom and dad that handwear stores sell hand pump to help to get water out of the canoe and we you use it and get to flow it keeps on going to get all the water out of the canoe.. 🦆☕

Always a good idea to trust your feelings like this and move on. Its only happened to us a couple of times but you know when its the right thing to do. We are all very good at reading and interpreting all those little non-verbal clues that add up to an alert. Great cook book btw, the wife loves it and I love the results :)

Great to see you all again, I can sympathise with Vic re the centre line being left mid ships once you leave a mooring… I’ve done it soooo many times 😂.. I’ve also had similar experiences when I felt unsafe ( I’m single handed and over 70) at a particular spot and had to move even at night ‘ just to get some sleep’… William is such a lovely lad and the end “Shhheeya shooon” cracked me up..😂👍🏻

if you tie your black bin bags up when you're dropping them off it helps to stop the rubbish blowing around when they empty bins. It always surprises me how many van life people don't tie their bags up, big or small, on youtube 'leave no trace'.

Get a food grade hose pipe, to replace that garden hose, also an in-line tap makes it easier to fill up/ shut off.
