Fun fact: when the Colombian is holding the Chainsaw to Tony's face asking where the money is, he calls him "Scarface" in Spanish. It is the ONLY time in the entire movie that Tony is referenced by the Title of the film.

Tony went to prison in Cuba and his mother also mentions he used to be a robber robbing “bodegas” he likely got mixed up into the drug game back in Cuba but just on a smaller scale. He also knew that the going rate for an drug offloader was 1000 a night, which is why he got heated when Omar offered him 500. This wasn’t tonys first rodeo.

Lol, Tony told Hector Angel was his "brother" IMO so that if things went bad, Hector would go for Angel first in order to use him as leverage, which is exactly what happens. This meant Tony could wait for Manny to come help them while the dealers threaten and then hurt Angel. And when Hector was about to do it, Tony did nothing to help Angel, he refused to tell Hector where the money was and blow the deal, he chose to let Angel suffer an agonizing death instead. So, Tony didn't give a shit about his friends right from the start

It's always been fucking obvious to me that Omar "El Mano " Suarez, El Mano means "the Monkey " in Spanish, Omar's nickname, set up Tony Montana and his crew including Angel Fernandez, who Hector "The Toad " and his small four-man (three men and one woman technically)gang of renegade trigger-happy cowboy Colombian thugs and former Colombian cartel associates back home in Colombia before Hector and his thugs migrated to America in the 1970's and settled temporarily in Miami, Florida by 1980, saw as Tony's only visible back up and lookout guy. Omar felt spiteful at Tony standing up to Omar the night before in front of the Bodega and trying to physically fight Omar for disrespecting Tony but Manny restrained Tony while Omar, a spineless rat at heart, tried to pull out his pistol to shoot Tony but his driver stopped Omar and whispered to give up the Cuban gangsters to the Colombians. Why Hector had two of his diminutive henchmen and gang members, "the Kids," positioned underneath the stairwell to ambush Angel from behind as Tony was in the motel room. Why Hector's girlfriend, Marta, had her pillow covering up her hidden fully automatic silenced machine gun Marta pulled on Tony as he pulled his pistol last minute which Hector disarmed from Tony as he was held at gunpoint with Angel. Omar warned Tony and Manny to bring two extra men as back-up and provided machine guns for Tony and his crew to avoid suspicion of a set-up if Tony survived the drug deal gone wrong. I do believe Sosa told the truth that Omar was a rat/snitch/NYPD police informant in New York city, New York, two years before that one of Sosa's two top enforcers, bodyguards, henchmen and pro Bolivian cartel hitmen, Alberto "The Shadow " recognized from visiting the United States of America two years before and Alberto saw Omar rat his three partners in crime out and testify against the three drug dealers to beat a prison stint or saw the paperwork and Omar migrated and fled to Miami, Florida afterwards for a new beginning where no one knew who he was or he was a snitch and started working for Frank Lopez until he climbed the hierarchy ladder to underboss. Why Sosa's two personal bodyguards, henchmen and pro Bolivian cartel assassins, the Skull aka the Bolivian Terminator aka Tony's future killer and the Shadow battered Omar to a bloody pulp brutally before lynching the rat from a helicopter.

I really love how the guns in this scene feel heavy and realistic. The way manny holds the SMG to control the crazy fire rate and the way the goon in the bed just sprays because he’s injured and is just firing.
@Gonken88
@Gonken88 Жыл бұрын
Yeeaahh very realistic... The mac-10 Manny is using has a firing-rate of 18 shots per second and it looks like he's using a 32 round magazine. He'd empty that in less than 2 seconds like brrrrt, instead it goes on like it was fucking belt fed. Also everybody seem to be fumbling around a lot as if they suddenly became extremely clumsy, of course to give Tony the time he needs to get the upper hand and escape. It's probably your lack of knowledge/understanding that makes this scene so great.

One thing I love about this scene is Tony's overall reaction to the situation. He subtly gives off that he's scared shitless (No one in their right mind wouldn't when faced with the prospect of being cut up with a chainsaw), yet he still shows defiance. Even in the face of almost certain death, he doesn't crack or panic. He just remains almost motionless, like a coiled snake waiting for the right moment to strike. Because one, he's trying to buy time for Manny and Chi Chi to come back him up, and two because he knows that talking won't save him. And it's when Manny busts in guns blazing, that's when Tony finally strikes. Such a well done scene.

The beauty of the scene is, for the horror and violence that is happened in the shower, there is no dismemberment shown; just the actors, a lot of blood splatter and the viewer's imagination.

The same effect is achieved in The Texas chainsaw massacre - basically you see only around 4% of the horrific and naturalistic gore that is going on. The most frightening aspect is that you as a viewer project your own fears and frustrations and everything that wasn’t directly displayed, you build it up in your imagination. A small but convincing hint is enough.

Watch carefully. You never see the chainsaw actually ripping into flesh. But you definitely feel it happening. A little blood splatter, sound effects, terse effective dialogue, and masterful editing. The chainsaw scene is actually created in the viewers mind through suggestion, much like the shower scene in Hitchcock’s Psycho. You never see the knife plunge into Janet Leigh. But you certainly believe it’s happening. Scarface is a masterpiece in filmmaking. Nothing quite like it.
