hi bro i just turned 15 and asked my mother a phone of 15k but after i wacthed your video last week i rejected the idea of mine to buy it and started saving money by doing home works along with my offline classes of 10th and by getting groceries, and all the homely chores, and many of them taking care of my brother vagera, and really understood and told my mom i would like to save money and buy the phone in june, and i really mean it and i felt it from the bottom of my heart.......

On a lighter note, by the time you save the money needed, I bet you will get many other new phones in the market for the same price, may be with better specs, so it's really a win-win for you! Good luck!

The implicit message of this video is not to ask everyone start something of their own. It is to identify - if you belong to the top 2 or 3 percentile of that particular field in terms of subject matter expertise/skill - if you have the freedom to choose an irregular income over a monthly salary - if you have the patience, perseverance and motivation to keep moving forward no matter what comes in your way - if you have the ability to showcase your skills to the target audience - if you have the risk appetite to live and sail through any ups and downs that you encounter in your entrepreneurial journey So, think before you act.

The top 2%-3% thing mentioned is NOT true in the internet age. In a services based business brand matters more, the best freelancers are the most well known not the most skilled. Freedom & free time is true wealth. I started my business journey 2 years ago with $0 and a laptop & I'm loving it. Right now having my own E-commerce business and creating several SaaS. Have you started your own business as well?
@nagarjunayt
@nagarjunayt 2 жыл бұрын
@@armada70 Good that you found your calling. While it's good as long as it lasts, can you create a business for perpetuity? Something which lives on without you. How long can Ranjit himself survive with what he's doing now forever! I don't have a business. But when I think about one, what worries me is how long it lasts..
@nagarjunayt
@nagarjunayt 2 жыл бұрын
@@armada70 in the long run what matters even for a Services based business is the service quality and not just the brand recall. E.g. IIPM had the best recall for a B-School 10 yrs back. Where is it now! Kodak and Nokia were synonyms for camera and mobile phones. Where are they now!

Oh damn! I remember Funtoosh sms jokes being circulated during my college times. Early Nokia days. I have also quit my job last year and working on my start-up. It took more than an year to get our 1st project but I guess we kept working and had patience. Yes there were some days where we felt like that was a big mistake but it takes time to get over. Since I have a business partner with me so we kept motivating each other in our down time. Thank you for your wonderful words Ranjit. Take care.

Not only do you have to be extremely good at what you're doing, you also have to be extremely good at negotiations. I freelanced while doing my bachelors. I didn't get paid ANYTHING because I didn't know how to negotiate in my 2nd year of degree. Since 3rd year, I started to negotiate better, started getting bigger projects and bigger checks. I earned enough money in my third year that I didn't go for an industry internship and rather went for a fairly low-income research internship. That's kinda when I realised that research is a lot better. Now I'm in grad school pursuing research all thanks to the confidence I gained during the negotiations and the communication skills I picked up along the way. Doing something on your own is definitely worth it !

Truly relatable, having born in a family of hereditary musicians, while growing up, education of music was mandatory, my formal training started back in 2007 by my father and grandfather, but its entire network was totally offline, with rigid "guru shishya parampara", performances at venues and concerts in the most traditional way , after seeing growth of internet in our country, 5 years back, i took the chance, i started uploading tutorial videos, (taking my art online), and VOILA!!! at this age of 24 with bunch of learners worldwide, having a good financial freedom, Moral of the story : just explore!!!, you never know, when your stars, align with you. Indian classical Music enthusiast as heartily welcome :)

It's good to hear from somebody from your own domain and age about the profession which we both were/are in. To be an expert in your domain (particularly in Web Application Development), you need to spend enough time in small companies with good projects. Then only one can become full stack developer. With right talent, one can learn a lot in small companies. I'm still working(coding) for small startups, as it is more challenging though not rewarding enough. I charge very less, so that I can do very challenging stuffs at my pace. At the age of 50, I still learn new technologies each year though not each day. Thank you bro for sharing your experience with us.

Didn’t knew that Ranjit was such a hardcore engineer. I can totally relate to the points mentioned, I was in TCS and it totally boiled me down when I get to knew my billing rate. And yes totally you need to prove through projects etc that you’re capable, even now a days you need to prove recruiters with projects on your resume. But the tech sector does had grown a-lot specially in India. And Indians are not low level workers anymore. But still yeah nothing beats than having your own venture. Wanted to start freelancing on the side. This had encouraged me even more.
