The original title for Scream was actually Scary Movie so I imagine that’s where this title came from!

Original names of popular movies is such a fun rabbit hole to go through. Spaceman From Pluto, Back to the Future. Everybody Comes to Rick's. Casablanca. Black Mask, Pulp Fiction. Fun one... "Headcheese".

Both movies were distributed through the same company (Miramax under the Dimension Films banner). Scream’s title remained as “Scary Movie” until close to the end of production. The Weinstein brothers, who ran Miramax from 1979 to 2005, decided to change it to “Scream” inspired by the Michael Jackson song of the same name.

The correct quote though from Friday the 13th is "Ki' Ki' Ki'- Ma' Ma' Ma' though. So many people get it wrong. It is supposed to be jason's voice telling Mrs. Voorhees to Kill, Ma'!

Take my hand!" Only reference to "strong hand" is "I better use my strong hand" when handling luggage. Love that movie. The Nike Basketball spoof is one of my all time favorite gags. The 2nd movie is the best by far, imo.

Such a shame the Wayans got kicked out of this franchise after the sequel. They had the right touch for this series. Marlon talks about this in a netcast I heard recently.

If I'm remembering right the "Wasss UPPPP!" was from a commercial first and then parodied in Scary Movie. But I could be totally wrong.

It was originally from a Budweiser commercial starting in 1999 which ran until 2002. This movie was from 2000.

Is it me, or does this movie, despite the car hitting her in the end, actually have a better twist ending than the REAL Scream? I honestly didn't see Doofy coming up as the prime killer. If they dropped the comedy portion of this it would be the best horror remake in a long time.

My father passed away about a week before this came out theatrically and my best friend talked me into going to see it to cheer me up. I don’t think I laughed so much since Top Secret! came out when I was 15. 👍😂

I really hope that Brandon continues with these movies. They are such a good time and the amount of references they pack into them is amazing. The third will always be my favorite but they are all pretty great. I might finally have to join his patreon if he ends up continuing.

The actor who played the sheriff is Kurt Fuller who you'll have seen in lots of stuff over the years. He's great. Currently enjoying his recurring role in the excellent show Evil.

One of the biggest laughs for me from this series, was with the second movie when Cindy goes to the entrance of the mansion, and knocks on the doorbell. The mans Balls and he screams in utter pain, so random and hilarious.

I suggest Scary movie 3 next, its the best. Plus each movie has it's own story, don't need them in order. Even death isn't permanent Brenda dies in every one.

Fun fact: Shannon Elizabeth and Marisa Jaret Winokur are both in this movie, and they both went on to compete in back to back seasons of Celebrity Big Brother like 15 years later

how about the little thing about the principal... in Scream it was Henry Winkler (aka "The Fonz" from Happy Days) and in this movie it was David Lander (aka "Squiggy" from Laverne and Shirley (the Happy Days spin off)) :)

You are literally the perfect age to get almost all of the references in these spoof movies!. So great. The last funny one was 3 when they reduced the rating to PG-13 and still retained some laughs. From there it was over, sadly.

one of the funniest comedies of all time in my opinion, has serious rewatchability. 2 and 3 are also great but 4 and 5 are pretty bad

I remember watching this movie in school and I remember exactly what I was thinking at the time, “I’m surrounded by idiots!” As you can tell, this is one of those movies I hate but everyone loves.

That cop with the Speedo pictures is Kurt Fuller, who has had a lot of good character roles. Check him out in "Auto Focus," but first watch a couple of episodes of Hogan's Heroes for reference. Also, the dad was Rick Ducommun, who shined in a very funny comedy called "The Burbs."
