My memories of my travels, took me back to when I lived in Panama. I wish that I can have my healthy walk again. But as I watched this video, I also remembered when I travelled to Rio de Janeiro and sat down in a restaurant where there was an acoustic guitar, and I tuned it and played simple gospel songs. The owner treated me to a shrimp pizza, and a beer which I politely asked for a Coca-Cola. I found myself relaxing from my severe pain as I mentally travelled through this nice video. Thank you for showing us a part of Columbia.

I’ve been out in Colombia for five months and have found it pretty safe. It helps that I speak Spanish but places like Medellin are not like the Medellin of the nineties. Obviously any country with a huge drug trade is going to have places you’d rather not visit, but generally in the cities it’s safe. The problems is different out in the countryside where the drugs are grown and the guerrillas live. There are definitely zones where it’s probably best not to to go but the reality is Colombia two and half times the size of France, so there’s plenty of places where life is good from Popayan to Santa Marta

Not saying she isn't a sweet and caring person - she is - but that's the way things work in some places. Gringos also are accustomed to tipping even in places where tipping isn't customary, so they are a prized catch for street vendors, etc.

That wonderful old lady embodies the spirit of women in Medellin. They are just so feminine and friendly. Hard to explain if you haven’t been there and experienced it. Many go through great hardships. It is very common for paisa women to have lost children. And they tend to become very religious to cope. But still incredibly warm always showing love trying to help.

I very much agree. I'm 72 now and starting in the early 1970s I traveled. I was retired out of the US Army on a disability pension. I went through Mexico, down into Central America & South America. I loved the shots of Aguardente! I loved Columbia! It takes a man who can handle himself and has a good street personality. Meeting locals that are looking to give you help and show you thier city and keep an eye out for you are the Best of times. Both those ladies were pretty cool. The one young lady was very beautiful! Volpe! I am an American in Medellin, good to see your review of our wonderful city! I have never seen Maria at the plaza but I will find her and tell her she is famous and have chicharron with her! There are so many wonderful people in this country and in Medellin. I have been to many cities in the US and the world over and I feel as safe here as in any other. The comments and theories about the girl he meets are hilarious! 🤣 She's not part of gang that's going to spike his drink and rob him (why would she allow herself to be recorded on video if that were the case?), and she's not some escort/prostitute/scammer either. If you know anything, about KZfaq travel vlogs - particularly the bigger channels - people don't just randomly travel to some foreign city and begin filming. It's planned and researched beforehand, local people are reached out to for advice, discussion, if they want to appear in the video etc. If you watch the video until the end, you'll see that she appears at the nightclub with him in a different outfit. The mostly likely explanation is that she's an online acquaintance from Medellin that he's been in contact with beforehand who has agreed to meet him in Medellin and appear in the video etc. It's not a random encounter but I wouldn't say its fake either.

Seeing that she, a complete stranger with "no family" followed volpe around the entire video is suspicious. She also met up with Volpe and his friend hours later. I was in Medellin in 1984 at age 20. It was quite tense back then for us because we were the U.S. National Cycling Team there to compete in the La Rita Pan Americano de Ciclismo. We were always competing in Stars and Stripes jerseys but we would try to look low key the rest of the time. Regardless, we were obviously Gringos. As always in Central and South America, the people were very, very nice and they also gave us extra respect as cyclists. I remember the arepas from street vendors and the kindness of so many people. It breaks my heart that in many, many places in the world, the sweetest people are the ones who often suffer the most poverty. Thank you for stoking my appreciation for Colombia. Aloha.

In Latin America you fing a lot of those girls that are trying to get you to go out, pay for her drinks, take her for dinner , take her to your room and the next thing you know, she is gine and all your valuable stuff went with her. Gold digers/robbers/hookers... a little bit of everything. I hipe we are wrong about her, but my experience tells me she is there for something greater than having a good time with a stranger

This reminded me of a very cool 10 year period in my life where I did the exact same thing in different parts of Central or South America, minus the camera. The red zones definitely get sketchy, but the vibrancy of the plazas in the evening are the best vibe ever. I also had a body guard, but she was my fiance' , and having a local guide is invaluable. El Centro in Cartagena is similar, as there a "zones" just outside the city walls. My bodyguard deflected the riff- raff and it all seemed normal and safe. Great memories. You would make a good traveling companion in CO!
