Things have definitely changed alot from my time. As part of the original ...first crew of USS Nimitz we totally relied upon the escort ships and our aircraft for carrier defenses.

I was on the carrier USS Constellation in the 1970's and went through two RIMPAC's and they were both impressive in a show of firepower by the worlds navies and airforces in the pacific. Back then it was possible to breach the defenses put up by an aircraft carrier. We were attacked by one JSDF F-4 Phantom ( Japanese Air Force ) and were considered "sunk" during one exercise. As you have shown in your video it's a lot different now, thank god.

The equipment is only as good as the crews assigned and trained to use them. One question that needs to be asked is how the crew will act and react to real combat and not make believe? Most of the crew will act as trained and some will panic.
