Nice to see that some people still keep the old German traditions alive, and that it did not all end in ´45 and ´89.

True Words! But thats not the Responsibility of the Army, but of the Politicians. German military Traditions are politically incorrect in the Federal Republic of Germany. So you will never see a public military Parade in the FRG.

I was stationed in Germany in the late 70s. I must say I love Germany, and I love the German people. The goose step looks like it would be difficult to do for a long time.
@REOGURU2 жыл бұрын
Yes it is. If you watch some other videos they explain how Germans would goose step for just a brief period in honor of luminaries attending the parade, then go back to normal marching. We're made to believe they marched like that all the time because we only see clips of them goose stepping in front of H. The only ones that goose step all the time are the Chileans, North Koreans, and also the Taiwanese (although I think they stopped now)...talk about having to be in shape!!
@kutter_ttl6786 Жыл бұрын
@@REOGURU If you watch a video of a Chilean parade they march the traditional Prussian way, in that they also goose step in front of dignitaries and then revert back to normal marching once they've passed them.

These guys march better than the Russians on the 2014 May Day Parade celebration. Germans still know "HOW" to march "WITH" music instead of just marching with music playing. hehe
@Wehrmacht90010 жыл бұрын
It is well done, but it is far from anything close to the Russian May Day Parades. Search up the Chilean military parades if you want a true German march. Germany has long abandoned their impressive parades.
@Alte.Kameraden9 жыл бұрын
***** This is just a local parade. Russian May Day Parade they practice long and hard for it and still do not match in step with the music it's pathetic. China for example it's all pointless show, they spend weeks prepping before the march starts including selecting hundreds of soldiers of the exact same build and stature to make a clone army effect where they all look the same. Utterly boring once you get past it all. Yes.. Chilean marching is wonderful, but it isn't really Chilean, it's mostly just German marching just done by Chileans. Personally I would prefer to see local parades like this vs those over the top often failed attempts of presenting "Real" Men/women marching being they're so so so badly staged China being the worst of them at it.
@Wehrmacht9009 жыл бұрын
***** I like how you had to mention that the parades were staged, as if you think I thought they were on accident. All parades are staged. Anyway, it's all just a matter of opinion. But the only true German parade I know of today is the Zapfenstreich. And I never said the parade style was invented by Chile, but they're doing a better job at upholding the tradition than Germany itself, which is sad.
@Alte.Kameraden9 жыл бұрын
***** Well more "Staged" than normal. Even the Nazis didn't select people who looked exactly the same to march in line during parades. Like China and Russia seem to do. There is this one SS clip showing them marching down the street, the only staging done is the camera angles to show the least march worthy members of the unit in the back so they were hard to see, but they still kept the entire unit rather than picking soldiers from lots of units that fit the bill just for a single day's marching on holiday. I say Staged as it Staged Beyond Comprehension and Logic "Staged." Marching just isn't marching when you do not have entire Units Marching in line and just cherry pick the best from a lot of units just to make a show on TV.
@Wehrmacht9009 жыл бұрын
***** Actually in Russia different formations are arranged by height, not by appearance. I've marched in parades before myself. I don't know about China, but that's just the way it's done. Not so much for looking pretty as it is to just make it easier marching in step with the guy in front. You can expect much stricter regulations on who and what goes on parade during, say, a parade celebrating Hitlers birthday as opposed to a parade celebrating something considered less significant. In the end they're all achieving military discipline and a good display of it.
@mercomania9 жыл бұрын
What a shame they had to do Russian Drill instead of the Prussian Drill.
