Schaublin lathe spindle bearings: Part 1 - removal

Жыл бұрынHow to remove the tapered inner race of the NN3009-K-SP (tapered inner) bearing from a Schaublin 102. The process is also applicable to the Schaublin 70 employing the NN3006-K-SP bearing. These bearings are used on a wide variety of machine tools including the Schaublin 12 and 13 milling machine - much of the approach taken here will be applicable to other machines.

Hi David. Nice video. I did it differently especially when the spindle got corrosion between the bearing and the spindle. I made a pair special wedges with an opening for the spindle. Those wedges fits between the bearing and the spindle. When placing them right in the front of the spindle I can press them together in a vise. The pressing force from the wedges is enough to separate the bearing from the spindle. No hammering is always my favor.

Yes, there are a few different ways of doing this. I've tried most of them, but this is my preferred method when fitting a new bearing. I want to do the job as quickly as possible, but also want ensure everything is clean. Removing the labyrinth seal allows meticulous cleaning so that no foriegn matter falls into the new bearing when adjusting it. I'll upload another video covering this soon.

Thank you, David. My Habegger JH102 spindle has a very similar design, if I ever need to replace the front roller bearing.
