Just picked it up. Great little amp. SMSL VMV D1se2 > Heresy > Sennheiser HD560s. Clear, smooth, quick, dynamic. Thanks for the review!

@@ThriftShopReviews It's actually my first intro to headphone amps. But just got an HD600 and heard it's the kind of headphone that really gets optimized with an amp. Do you think this will pair well with it?

@@ereiffman I think it’s a good start given the price. The hd600 would pair best with an otl tube amp but you can do that later. I have a video coming out in a few days about one of these amps and tube rolling. Don’t worry the Schiit is fine. What dac will you be using ?

@@ThriftShopReviews So as of now just the DAC that's part of my UA Volt interface. I actually heavily debated spending an extra 120 on the Schiit unity with the internal DAC

I just picked up a Magni+ in black for $69 the other day, what an awesome deal. As far as I can tell, the Magni+ is being replaced by the Magni Unity, which has an optional DAC module. I use an audio interface so the DAC module is of little use (costs extra as well) and I dislike having "blank" switches on products, so the Magni+ is *perfect* for me.

I had an almost identical situation as you. I debated on getting the unity and wondered if I "needed" that extra DAC. But I've got a great interface and the Heretic seems awesome for the price

Hi there. Nice video thx. I saw this offer a few days ago and have no way of deciding whether to get the Magni+ or the Heretic. I think the Magni Plus is more neutral and calm, or am I wrong? I'm using DT770 250 headphones and plan to get Fostex T50rp. Can you recommend something ? Thanks

Wow, 2 videos in a row... someone is upping his game ;-) Jokes aside, I can't wait for the SMSL video now. I got the SU-1 end of last year and I'm having a bit of an issue with it. It's plugged on my computer and now it will cut the sound of a few seconds here and there. I found out that modifying the configuration file to have access to Options in the control panel allows you to set the DAC to Always On. Which I did and it did improve greatly .... for a while, now it's back and it's really annoying. My Topping D30 never had an issue like that. So I might be looking for a new DAC pretty soon. (the sound and the soundstage of the SMSL is so much better it makes it hard to go back to the Topping ;-) ) Cheers and thank you for that piece of Schiit!

I got one about a month ago. I am not con vinced that this piece of schist heretic isn't just a desktop amp for small drivers with a few headphone jacks tacked on. I can crank it till the drivers start to distort on all of my 50mm oneodio headseats. it just works.

I got the black chassis version when they first listed them for $69. I have a few Schiit products: Freya+, Freya S, BitFrost 2/64, Modi, Modius, Magni3+ and a Mani. You could say I have a Schiit load 😁

Hi, here is the critique of the video quality of this video (as you ask for it): the dynamic range is very poor as the front of the amp is so "highlight blown out" that I can barely read the model "magni" letters, your hands are grey (!) and blurry, the color of your sleeves is way off...: atrocious video quality. Atrocious. An old iphone will do better. Use your DSLR or buy a cheap mirrorless. Canon USA has some super deals now if you hurry (currently some super discounts!): Canon R100 new + lens = $500 (but no flipping screen), R50 + lens $700 new (better as has a flipping screen that face you while shooting videos), same refurbished (1year warranty) $560, M50 + lens refurbished $480 (not ideal because Canon M series/EF-M is discontinued by Canon...but cheaper to start...)...This will give you proper video quality...that said I love SCHIIT products! This critique is intended to be a contructive critique: I had to tell you how bad this video is regarding the quality of the equipment filming it...Here are some more good shops for cameras: B&H NYC, Adorama NYC, used KEH, used MPB...Hope it helps! QUALITY of the video is important otherwise it is so bad that people are not willing to watch it and receive your message...See you in your next video.

Thanks. I agree about the quality. It was a highly rated streaming camera. My normal camera is a Sony a7r2 other than audio. It is very good but I’ve been using my iPhone 14 Pro lately and the video quality absolutely sucks. It’s grainy and sucks. I’ve been testing editing software to see if I can fix it. Thanks for the comments. Btw I was a canon guy for a long time then switched to Sony after using the Sony.

Sony has the best sensors of the market so if you are a Sony guy then stick to Sony and use your Sony A7R2 with a good lens...Cell phones have very small sensor and so as soon the light level go down the quality crash totally! And obviously their dynamic range is terrible in low light...The video quality of your iphone 14 in full day light is probably quite good...I am not a video guy but I love photography and have a good knowledge of the basics. @@oliviermannie8533 I appreciate your comments. The iPhone cameras have gone downhill fast. While the sensors and lenses are small the processing absolutely sucks. It is so grainy in post processing that it’s just frustrating. I will likely switch to my Sony but that will take a lot of work. Thanks and greatly appreciated

Suggestions audio amazing ratio price/quality items for future reviews?: Sennheiser HD560S headphones $ 150 at B&H (120 ohms so need an amp to shine), Kali Audio powered studio monitor speakers LP 6V2 ($ 400/pair) or others models of this brand, like MM6 or LP-UNF?@@ThriftShopReviews
