Open-heart surgery at almost 3000 metres above sea level - what is being realised on the Schilthornbahn 20XX is unique and incredible. Logistical and weather-related challenges are being mastered and creativity is also required for this work - because the concrete is produced directly on site at the Birg concrete factory and transported to the Schilthorn by material railway - something that is not commonplace on «normal» construction sites.
The railway is in full operation and visitors can see that work is being carried out here, but there are no restrictions - during the journey they get an additional exciting insight into the construction site - in other words, somehow «business as usual».
