Timber constructions are always appealing and impressive - as is the case with the new valley station of Stechelberg - the first construction section of the SCHILTHORNBAHN 20XX.
Screws, nails and wood shavings characterize this construction section. What is certainly special is that there are hardly any right angles in the entire construction and ingenuity is required for the installation. A compensator is positioned on the construction crane to ensure that the material is positioned at the correct angle and fits perfectly during installation.
«Special» is the name of the game here, as the geometry of the world's steepest cable car means that the cabin has to enter the station through the roof.
Wood is a building material suitable for mountainous terrain, lightweight, sustainable and quick to prefabricate - the bottom line: it shortens the construction time! As a result, everything is proceeding in quick succession and it looks very good that the 1st section can be opened by the end of 2024 according to the milestone plan.
