(14 Sep 1931) Fol. Great Britain wins outright in fly-over, the Schneider Trophy delayed by Saturday's rain, the flight of the British entry took place on Sunday, no last minute arrival appearing. Lapping over the triangular course seven times Flt Lt Boothman broke the record of 1929 at an average of 340.08 mph. The World's fastest speed prize, won thrice in succession thus finds a permanent home here.

A modern version for modern seaplanes would be fantastic . A whole new slant on flying in the modern age . Each aircraft would have to have biofuel powered engines , prop engines of course .

We won it fair and square,my Grandfather did all the copper cooling work on that aircraft .Britain has always or did build fantastic things.We had to give all of our science to America as a deal when they entered the second world war.

im sad they only showed brittish planes, i wanted to see the majestic italian seaplanes.

The 1931 Trophy was uncontested so only the British took part.

@@Minowl i didnt know that, thanks for telling me. Tho i hope one day the schneider trophy will come back and aircraft designers around the globe will once again fight for the first place and break seaplane records no one thought would be beat!

Indeed. I think if the MC 72 had showed up it would have been a different story.

MC 72 still holds to this day the fastest float plane.
