Add to that fact that he doesn’t speak either of those languages, he remembers the songs phonetically then add the fact that he had no lessons in singing, it’s all self taught! Not a bad effort for an orphan, his mother left them when he was about three and then his father was arrested and jailed and since no-one wanted to help him he lived in the jail with his father until one of the prison guards adopted him around four or five. He went to school up to the third grade when he ran away, he left because the cops family treated him as a slave. He then lived on the streets scavenging food scraps from waste bins etc, he did any jobs he could get and he used to watch the singers at night clubs through the windows and copied them. Celine Dion was his favorite singer, and while working on a poultry farm he would sing and by chance he discovered his ability to copy and sing like Celine or any woman. Finally at about 27yo he entered Philippines Got Talent which he won, this seriously changed his life for the better, he rediscovered his family and met his wife. He entered America’s Got Talent where he finally placed fourth after one of the most controversial outcomes of all time, I dare say you could still find most of it on line if you’re interested. However in spite of everything he’s is still a well mannered humble individual (look into his charity work since Covid ).

i would be shocked if he knew 5 words in english. Like many foreign singers singing american songs often times they dont understand the meaning of the lyrics. They mimic the sound of the word, the note but you dont need to know the meaning to replicate the sound. Thats how i learn songs, i replicate the sounds i hear, i cant tell you how many times i have looked up the lyrics of a song i had known a long time and been like, damn, thats what it is?

@@marketsquareus Apparently you have not heard him describing his life story. Yes English is not his first language but he can handle himself very well plus he knows a lot more than 5 words in English.

Non-educated Filipinos can speak more than 5 English words. Everywhere you go, you see English words on signboards, roads, vehicle signs, tv commercials, products packages, etc.etc. in many times, Filipino professionals speak better and understandable English than many people from English speaking countries especially with regards to the correct grammar . Also, the Documents are mostly written in English. TV shows and News in English.

@@trbarton743 no, i have not heard him speak and i mean no disrespect to him. Its just that the way he replicates every note exactly as bocelli and dion did is an indication he is learning the songs phonetically. He is simply replicating what he hears...well not simply. I do the same thing. I can learn a song and sing it like the singer and not even know the meaning of the words i am singing. I cant tell you how many times i have looked up lyrics of songs i had learned and said, oh, THATS what i am singing. I get absorbed by the tone, the sound not so much the meaning of the words. If the singer emotes well enough you dont need to know what the words mean.
