Schnellzugdampf vom feinsten - The Great Britain XVI

"The Great Britain" ist eine jährlich durchgeführte, neun Tage lange Sonderfahrt quer durch England Schottland und Wales. In diesem Jahr wurde der Zug vom 13.-21.4. von drei Maschinen bespannt, den beiden normalerweise fast ausschließlich in Schottland eingesetzten Black 5s 44871 und 45407 "The Lancashire Fusilier" und 34067 "Tangmere", wobei die beiden Black 5s einen Teil der Fahrt gemeinsam absolvierten.
Ich habe den Zug an folgenden Tagen dokumentieren können:
13.4. Es ging von London durch Kent über Dover und die Sapperton Bank nach Cheltenham
14.4. Von Cheltenham über die Lickey Incline (mit einer Steigung von 1/37 ist dies das steilste Stück einer Hauptstrecke in England) nach Carnforth
15.4. Von Carnforth über die bekannte Settle & Carlisle nach Glasgow
20.4. Von Liverpool über das Knuckles Viadukt nach Swansea

Hallo Morten, you have done a wonderful job here, despite being caught in typically English rain! I don't get a chance to see steam locomotives working so hard: at Swanage there is a 30kph speed limit, and the trains never have many carriages. Thank you very much Bob! Yes i did. Its always an fantastic adventure to visit the UK. During my Last visit a local told me its called „Liquid Sunshine“ instead of rain^^
