Good job Therese. I don't expect any of my students to score 100. You passed and will remember your mistakes. I heard the word OOP's made me chuckle. lol I have one in training now and I told her to watch your videos over and over. Makes it easier on me. Keep up the good work., :)

Thank you, Pack... I am new to the transit world, so, still finding my footing on that beast. They are fun to drive, that’s for sure. Amazing how quiet they are too. I tell my students, usually my perfectionists, you can get a 100 on your pre trip, you can get a 100 on your maneuverability, but it’s highly unlikely to get a perfect driving score. The best road test for all of the students I have trained, has been a 98. That’s an amazing road test! I have a few pet peeve particulars...I think we all do. I’m glad to know the videos have been helpful for you/your drivers. Thanks for the comment and feedback! You’re right about never forgetting again what you miss when you’re being tested. 😊

Wow!! you’re good at remembering all that❤️❤️ how long did it take you to get all that memorized?
@SchoolBusSass Жыл бұрын
When I’m training new drivers, it usually takes five times of doing the pretrip in person, out loud and, preformed with the bus. Then, they usually have it. Some pick up the pretrip quicker, some take more time. It generally depends on the effort of the individual, and their ability for memorization. Much of the pretrip is nothing more than repetitive phrasing. You can do this…😁
@isaacbenton27133 жыл бұрын
Hello Therese on the per-trip exam, if the examiner ask you to start for driver door to back. Are you required to talk about the cross members, drive shaft and the exhaust system?
@SchoolBusSass3 жыл бұрын
In Ohio, we have to pre-trip the entire vehicle. You are allotted 30 minutes to complete the pretrip. I’m not sure which state you are preparing to rest in... It sounds like Possibly NY or New Jersey? If you have the opportunity to call your local exam station, they should let you know.

Hello Therese I'm schedule to take road the Friday 5-7-21, and I have another question. Coming to a stop sign where view is obstructed by trees. What is the proper procedure when using the white line as a stopping point. Same question with railroad crossing.
@SchoolBusSass3 жыл бұрын
If there is a stop bar, stop behind it. If there is no stop bar, stop behind the crosswalk. If there is no crosswalk, stop before you enter the intersecting street. If, however, you do not have a clear line of sight upon your initial stop location, for whatever reason... Proceed cautiously, knowing that you may need to stop again. A railway crossing is much like an intersection. If there is a stop bar, stop at the stop bar, pull your brake, turn your. noisemakers off, open your window, take bus out of gear and open your service door. Look and listen in both directions, no less than twice. If you see and hear nothing, you may proceed with caution, once you put your bus back into gear, close the door, and release the brake. Once over the track, you will turn your hazard lights off, approximately 50 feet after the track. A good rule of thumb. Is to cancel your hazard lights when you see the RR on the other side of the tracks. If there is no white line, you should be stopping no closer than 15 feet and no further than 50 feet from the nearest rail. Once you start going over the tracks, you should never stop on the track. Make certain you have enough room to clear the track on the other side.

If your school district goes virtual learning , will the still pay the drivers and still inspect the buses?
@SchoolBusSass2 жыл бұрын
Districts or contract companies would make the decisions about pay if remote learning is instituted. Our district gave its drivers alternative job assignments when we went remote in 2020 to maintain the drivers pay. Major inspections still take place twice a year by the state, but daily pretrip inspections only happen before a bus leaves the lot to pick up students.
@juliusmay87122 жыл бұрын
I wonder will there be virtually learning for the rest of the school year?
@SchoolBusSass2 жыл бұрын
That decision will be up to the school district. So far, the district I drive for is scheduled for in-person learning. There are, however, several school districts, closer to Cleveland, which have decided to go to remote learning in January.

Hi there! I noticed you didn't do a governor cut in and cut out on your air brake test us that not required in your state? In California where iam at it is....
@SchoolBusSass3 жыл бұрын
Hello Bob, Not as part of the brake test… I do, however, mention the governor cut off while speaking about the gauges. Really great point…. Each states pretrip may have some variances in what is required to point out and verbalize. Please contact your local test site for specific requirements.

I enjoy driving the transit, though I prefer the FE, over the RE. I like seeing out the rear door. I find it an easier, and safer ,process, with the added visibility of the doors upper and lower windows. Particularly since our RE do not have the back up camera feature.
