I had one yesterday! There are EST Genesis Horn/Strobes in the hallway, plus horn-only genesis's in classrooms, and concrete in the hallways. All that combines for an ear-destroying system.

In Vista Oaks Elementary School. I had a fire drill once.

I had a fire drill since 2 days.

And in areas like a pool or gymnasium they echo like heck as well.

My elementary school had Siemens UMMT S17s that sounded like smoke alarms, but that's my middle school you just watched in the video and ofc they have to have older kinds of alarms.

@@tsg931 What I meant is that it could've been installed in the late 1990s after one of the Wheelock EH horns had failed. That's definitely the mid-to-late 90s version of the 4901-9822, given the sound. I know Simplex still makes it, but I would assume it now has the same sounder as the TrueAlert horn.

@@s_rv. my elementary school had Siemens UMMT S17s that sounded like smoke alarms due to the setting of the dip switches but my high school, which is the school jn the video you've just watched, has Wheelock and Simplex alarms.

Simplex has bought Wheelock equipment for years some installations will have Simplex pulls, the panel, and the annunciator but the NA's can all be sherlock. As long as the devices being used are all the same thing the system is 4 wire the devices have to be 4 wire, addressable must also be addressable, and so on. As long as the equipment supports the same type of current as what the panel puts out that's all that matters. There was a video on here of a 4010 bell test where the devices were all System Señor SpectrAlert Classics but as far as I know he has still left his videos private.

Vinnie Versaci As long as the horn unit itself supports a 2 wire connection into the system. Strobe is usually on a separate 2 wire connection.

Gary Beltz The unit shouldn't have to be addressable. Addressable audio visual devices are a rather new concept I've yet to work with. Hopefully we'll be seeing more in the future!

The older Simplex panels an annunciators used buzzers instead of electronic piazoes like in the 4100ES series in fact elevator enthusiasts said the panels used the same sound as the one used in the Dover elevators called the "Dover Buzz"

@@soggypotatochip truealerts aren't old devices. It's a little glitch in the panel that happens with a lot of simplex panels.

@@chrisg6492huh. usually every other 1st beep is a nanosecond longer than the others. it’s weird, but the school in the video is mine, and every other school drill i’ve participated in has had TrueAlerts so i’m used to it.

I think it has something to do with the SmartSync module and the TrueAlert's age. Also these TrueAlerts are 100% SmartSync. Whereas the 4 wire TrueAlerts will most likely sound right away when an alarm condition has been activated.

Yes there’s only strobes in the classrooms and offices but in all the halls, gyms, wrestling rooms, stairwell areas, and lobbies, there is horn/strobes

@@safetech Well. If there’s multiple modules, how come they’re still not synchronized? Not hating. I like the system. I get to hear the EH-EL1s mixed with the TrueAlerts in the auditorium lobby nearly every month. And Lordy, that’s music to my ears! 😍 But still. I don’t understand…

@@IHeartAGM It's a glitch in the system. The panel isn't synchronizing the modules which results in unsynced alarm. As you can tell, the truealerts are out of sync, but the eh is all synced together. That's because the eh is being coded by the panel (since they can't do code 3 by themselves), but the truealerts are able to do code 3 by themselves so they don't require the panel to code them, which can result in unsynced alams without sync modules (that work)

Wheelock sued Siemens for patent infringement for imitating their signals. As part of the settlement, Siemens had to use Wheelock signals for 8 years. That was in 2007, but I guess they decided they didn't want to start making their own line of signals.
