Il Muggine è un pesce in grado di sopportare ampie variazioni di salinità, infatti lo troviamo regolarmente in acque marine, acque dolci o salmastre. Estremamente adattabile a tutti gli ambienti; lo troviamo spesso alle foci dei fiumi, nelle zone lagunari dove l’acqua di mare si mescola con l’acqua dolce proveniente dall’entroterra e all’interno di baie e porticcioli.
