-We have used the concept of games (tic-tac-toe, hopscotch, dots and boxes) to enable an understanding of architecture as having the capacity to critically interpret and transform status quo in the built environment. -These “games” being a part of every student’s childhood, brings emotions like excitement, joy, surprise, and makes the student feel good. -Beyond these feelings being experienced, these games have helped the students to interact with their peer groups, make new friends and socialise. -We feel that these activities are very essential in any learning environment. being a design school, they are very crucial as learning here is neither restricted inside classroom, nor from the faculty alone. -We do learn from our seniors and juniors outside a classroom or hostel room, as a “third place” (~Ray Oldenburg’s ‘the great good place’) -Thus, dot plazas, crit streets, cafeteria, staircases, studio open outs, balconies, the common room, terraces and playgrounds are designed achieving the concept of “third place” to enhance interaction. -Our design evolves trying to achieve the feeling of playing games, it is a student-centric playful experience of pursuing architecture.
