The Michaela community school, in north London, made the decision last March, citing concerns about prayer rituals causing segregation and intimidation within a group of Muslim pupils.
One pupil challenged that decision at the High Court, claiming it's discriminatory - but the High Court has upheld the ban.
The headteacher - Katharine Birbalsingh - has declared it's a 'victory for all schools', but do you think it's unfair on pupils who want to practice their religion?

"Nobody is saying that it's outrageous we are teaching christianity in our schools". I should hope not, we are after all a "CHRISTIAN "country the last time that I looked.

They can pray when they get home, why should the school have to deal with people's religious routines,it's for LEARNING not praying!

This headteacher is correct, no one religion gets preference. Everyone is equal, this is what some parts of the community don't want. As she has said if you don't like my rules, don't come to my school"

On another subject that was covered by Jeremy Vine(JV) in this programme regarding urban foxes. He was reporting on this item whilst riding his bicycle on the pavement, which is in contravention of both section 72 if the Highways Act 1835 and the Highway Code. One of which suggests that it is not legal to ride on the pavement. The prohibits the "wilful riding" on footpaths which refers to the path at the side of a carriage way. My reason for highlighting this is because of his self- righteous condemnation of any infraction, real or imaginary by him of motorists. So I thought, that I should highlight the irony and hypocrisy of that clip. Which is seemingly lost on him.

Schools shouldn't be coercing children to pray, but if they want to do so, in their own time, during break periods, then it makes no sense prohibiting them from doing so.

I worked with Muslims who went off to pray for 5 minutes during the working day. Didn't bother me in the slightest.

Good for you. Go 'work' with them. I don't want any religious people who has to pray on duty/ during vocation in emergency services or in secular settings like secular schools. If faith is important, there are faith schools.

1. Muslims used to be able to pray. 2. There was no reason that it had to be in the playground, they could have set aside one classroom at lunchtime as a generic silent orayer room. 3. They could have consulted with an Imam who could have clarified the issue with the parents. 4. It could have been turned into a useful cultural exchange for all building togetherness. 5. Poor management of the issue created the problem by all parties. 6. Carol Malone is as useful as a chocolate teapot in these discussions...

If they wanted to go to a muslim school they were free to go to one. They chose the school and were warned when they did.

They want to pray 5x/day with prayer mat. It started by her kneeling on her blazer praying quietly during breaktime. Gradually develops into groups of 20 on prayer mats in full view of school. Next step would have been demanding right to walk out of class to pray when they wanted. Next step demanding extra tuition to make up for loss of class time because of prayer time breaks. Zealots seeking to stir up trouble will always want more. Pupils mother has stated she intends to send her other children to this school. If prayer time is paramout then why not opt for a different school.

Faith schools should be abolished as they cause division for children later in life. Every religion should be taught in schools. Religious hatred is the number one cause of division and war.

I wonder what would happen in Saudi Arabia if a Christian wanted to say the angelus prayer or the rosary in one of their schools or any public place for that matter? It seems that in this country if you object to anything to do with Islam, then you are labelled islamophobic. The fact is that although we are becoming a more secular society in the UK, never the less we are still a predominantly Christian country. But it seems that Christians are paradoxically the only religious faction that are not allowed to express their views without being bullied by either Islamists (not all muslims), or even worse our own police (the Met. being a prime example).

Carole yet again is talking absolute bollocks and even when being corrected doesn't realize she's continuing to talk bollocks. And it sounds as though 'prayer' hasn't been banned but just no groups of more than 4 people can congregate together...which is it?
