Our nation's school system's success varies exponentially based on state AND even individualized districts within a state...
This is not a secret to ANY parent I've ever encountered!
However, what's really interesting is if you dig deeper and focus on things outside of simple test scores, the rankings of schools by state changes!

Can you please do a video on the best and worst states for dyslexic learners. Some states have really great dyslexic programs, others do not. 4/5 of my kids are dyslexic, ranging in severity from severe profound to moderate. We are moving states and I would love some insight prior to choosing a new state. Thank you very much.

I honestly learned pretty much everything on my own by reading or on the internet for free besides meeting friends college was a real waste of time and most of my high school was a waste of time. I think what you need to be teaching your kids is how to be a lifelong learner and how to learn yourself not going advocate at school It's not going to get you very far. I've never heard a good argument why we still need all this formal education when we're in the information age you can learn anything on your own at home for free.. honestly like who remembers or uses almost anything you learn in high school?

All School Teachers should work 12 months a year. When classes are not in session, Teachers could do Administrative work and perform other tasks, based on their skill-pool attributes. In the long run, this would save School Districts money in that they wouldn't have to hire as many people to perform non-teaching jobs. Physical plant duties could also be done in that manor. Simplistically hat better way to fix the furnace, by a Shop Teacher with help from Industrial Arts Students (if in session). Schools being self-sufficient, will minimal exceptions, is not only good & practical education, but more cost effective & easing the tax burdens on residents of the District. Any to be more cost-effective to a School District, WITHOUT compromising the Educational standards for the students, would be a feather in the cap for the learning process. School Districts, based on their relative student body size, should not have to have an Assistant Principal in EACH school building. They should travel back & forth between the schools, on an as-needed basis. Another and even more practical cost-cutting measure was mentioned at the onset of this writing. The idea of utilizing School Teachers all year long would be a PROFOUND way of Districts getting more-bang-for-the-buck. Hypothetical situation: If a Teacher was employed by a School District for 40 years, they only actually performed 30 years of work. Another much-needed change, for School Districts in general, would be to contour sessions based on the local weather. In other words, in School Districts that ensure harsh winters, have the three-month-off sessions then. It would not only be more practical with respect to not having snow days or putting students & bus drivers at risk, but also taking away the necessity to have so much time off for the Holidays. It would be a win-win situation for all. I'm surprised this has never been implemented in the past?

I grew up and went to school in Massachusetts and it was absolute garbage I mean maybe it's worse other places but it was really just college prep the whole time. I went to college at State University of New York that was even worse. The schools and places like Massachusetts New Hampshire New York are good if you're in an area that sells selects into pay super high property tax rates it has a bunch of dual parent households at Care a lot about education and that are highly educated like in suburban Boston. I lived in the Midwest for a while and have friends out there I would say the best bang for the Buck school systems are those in places like Lincoln Nebraska or Madison Wisconsin point good outcomes for much much less money and much more equal across the state I just said the rich school districts.

The reasons some schools are dangerous is because the state and teachers union refuse to kick students out no matter what because it affects their bottom line. Instead they keep these dangerous kids locked in with normal kids for 12 years. I remember 8th period had daily fights and nothing would happen to those kids. Thank you for the free prison, I mean, classroom experience. -NJ

I guess those students should be kicked out, and yeah that's dumb if they're not kicked out because teachers want to keep them for their pay. But if those students get kicked out, how do we ensure they get a good education, and ensure they get into less fights?

Well: Mass born and raised here. The education I received was pretty good, we have tons of opportunity for higher education as well as resources for those who have difficulties. But I have to say I'm surprised we are still #1 in the nation. The education my children are getting these days is pathetic. There's no homework, no pencil to paper type work, tests are 3 questions. Massachusetts is definitely slacking hard time on curriculum - common core needs to go. Kids in Mass these days are being ripped off. The schools have all gone "woke" "everyone gets passed". So I can guarantee those numbers are fudged. Just because these kids are passing doesn't mean they are meeting the benchmarks. Trust me on that.

This is why I will be homeschooling my child. We already did the public school and it was the worst experience ever for my family. My son has autism and he has an iep. Well my son wears pullups and his teacher had a problem with it and even write notes home saying he needed underwear. The same teacher decided to question me infront of the school office and parents on why my son wears pull ups even though he has an rx for the pull ups. Well we decided that this upcoming school year I will be homeschooling him! That teacher told me I would fail my son because I do have a teaching degree! Well I have two in biochemistry!
@laurahano7448

My child has autism and homeschooling is the best decision. I am in one of the worst states mentioned. Teaching my child is easy because she loves to learn. Kids are taught in school to hate books and that learning is a chore. My child was never taught this. As for the teacher who said your kid would fail, nope. Between the IEP and adjusting the curriculum to meet the child's needs, you'll never need to "fail" the child an entire year the way the school systems do. Good luck and stay free!
