I found three HUGE schools of crappie on Lake of the Ozarks in central Missouri and I show you various tactics to catch them. The fish were good solid keeper fish and I caught a lot of them. It was a cold, but fun day of fishing.

fun way to spend a cold day in winter watching you ketch crappie. used to love ketchn off our dock at LOZ but sold it and fish other lakes now but still good to see how you ketchm off of docks and shoot them.

Try a live minnow. If they dont eat that. They wont eat anything.

Good video Mike how do you know if they are crappie without catching one 1st. Could you long line troll or pull crank baits and catch these fish

I can tell by the way they look and act. Their shape and they just suspend. You could probably catch them long lining or with crank baits if they were in a mood to chase a bait and if you could get to them. Hard to do if they are surrounded by docks.

thanks for putting the video together mike. i'm curious why you chose a casting presentation over a spider rigging. was it preference, preparation or a tactical choice?

@@MikeBakerVideos fair enough. spider rigging is effective, but i don't consider it fun for a casual day on the water. i'd much rather cast, dock shoot or vertical jig as well.

Do crappie tend to school in open, around brush tops or close to bottom this time of year? What would determine their tendency during tis time? Thanks for putting out your videos.

All of the above. Not sure what dictates where they are but usually bait will be close by.
