As the snows melt away from your Scottish village, the stones that define your territory begin poking through. You could easily push the stones back a few feet to gain some extra space... Suddenly, an arrow whizzes past your ear. It seems like your neighbour had the same idea! In Schotten Totten we will use our cards to play the best battle formations we can to defend our village. We will have to win a number of mini poker hands to claim enough stones to win the game.

I really liked the idea of this game, so I made a faux deck with pokemon energy cards, me and my fianceé really loved it.

Another great video! I realized as I was watching that this can be played with a Lost Cities deck if you have the 6th color and a proxy for the stones. My wife and I love Lost Cities and I'm going to play this with her tomorrow. Thanks again!

Very good idea Jon. For when a stone is claimed you could just put a token of some sort on it! Did you get around to playing this one? What did you think?

Me and my partner live in Scotland, we’d never know who should start.

That sounds like quite the dilemma Tozmo, but you might be safe because technically the rules say "The player who has most recently traveled near Scotland is First Player." So, as long as at least one of you has left Scotland at some stage, maybe to go to England, then you were probably near Scotland and the one who has done that most recently can start! Saved!

@@tozmom615 Don't worry, it's actually better not to go first in this one - probably why you chose an Irish partner! You must have seen this one coming! ;-) Galway is a great spot. I always head there when I get a chance to go back to Ireland.

Yes, it is indeed another good filler. It can actually take quite a lot of thinking about your moves, especially near the end of the game...

3 Stones winning in the Middle has 2 edges. Ex. Winning spots 5 and 6, you can fight for spots 4 and 7. Winning 3 Stones in a row on the edge is harder. Ex. Winning spots 8 and 9, you only fight for spot 7. Or you fight for 5 spots across the table.

Winning 5 spots needs more Luck with dead cards after claiming spot, so you should always play for 3 in a row spots.

That is very true. If you are at the edges you have certainly got less opportunities to make your 3-in-a-row.

@@jedagelijksebraintraining Winning 5 spots is indeed quite difficult. It's hard to plan for what you have left over in your hand.

Her purple 8,9,7 isn’t a color run. Doesn’t she have to lay them in order? So she would’ve had to lay it down 9,8,7?

Hi Andrew. No, the order in which you play cards doesn’t matter for runs of successive strengths. As long as there are three cards of the same colour and of three successive strengths then it is fine.
