West Germany versus France at Spain 1982. One of the most dramatic matches in FIFA World Cup history.
Having only been on the field for 10 minutes, substitute Patrick Battiston was stretchered off after a brutal collision with goalkeeper Harald Schumacher that would leave the Frenchman missing teeth.

And he is proud of that furthermore. This guy was back right lol. Compared his weak level to the back left il bello Antonio Cabrini. Not at all. Except for euro 84 (won at home against second-tier teams) they won nothing for 16 years. And they even failed at qualifying for two world cups in a row. They started winning only when they coupled physical strength of players from former colonies and tactical wisdom learnt in the italian serie A during the 90s.

This world cup had few very special moments. The Algeria/Germany/Austria scandal (a.k.a "the digrace of Gijon"), the kuwaiti prince canceling a french goal in France-Kuwait pool match and this dramatic semi-final.

Germany had no right to win that match. If that happened today, the Goalie would've been booked, and might've been suspended for over a year or two.

Red card and penalty, not only following nowadays' standards, but also in those days. Terrible mistake by the referee, most probably a game-changing one. This is just another reason why VAR is much better - even with some of its disadvantages - than no VAR at all.

It was a dramatic game of football. France ought to have won as they were 3-1 up but they didnt know how to defend. As for the foul i think the ref, like the viewers, were following the ball. No one suspected a thing until the slo mo.
