Very nice work. I read the literal translation and sort of figured out what is meant but this is a true translation. It looks like Schwarzer Engel themselves perhaps approve of your translation; that's awesome. Personally I enjoy the Latin language myself and try doing translations with it. I study history and it forms the basis for the many romance languages and within each is a lesson to be learned as each modern Latin based language has of course taken on vocabulary from Slavic, Celtic and Germanic languages. Interestingly English is sort of the reverse situation as we have a Germanic Language in terms of its foundation; related to Frisian and other older spoken languages which written at first with Norse style runic scripts rather than the Latin Alphabet. Old English is derived from languages spoken around 1500 years ago near the Elbe. The Saxons and Angels who migrated across the North Sea eventually converted to the Roman Church. Later they were invaded by Norse raiders and colonists, i.e. the Vikings, who brought the Old Norse languages and grammar to Anglo-Saxon in the 9th Century; especially early Danish. If matters were not complicated enough the Vikings who went to early France became Latinized but kept many Norse words and so Normandy still has place names which show their unique influence and culture. Famously the Normans invaded England in 1066 and spent centuries subduing the isles. That is why Middle English and Modern English even today have so many words for the same basic things; one in Norman French and one provincial Anglo-Saxon at least; it took time for them to form one language. By the time of the printing press and the Renaissance Latin and Greek based words for scientific, philosophical and other concepts where taken on directly from Classical Latin rather than later Church Latin or early French as it had been before; further complicating matters. So learning Latin actually has a lot of value in helping with higher English vocabulary even for fluent speakers and writers. Forgive me for writing so voluminously! : ) I find the subject interesting and many of us have a lot more time on our hands lately. Hahaha. It looks like writing song once again with the same point, but in language "B" . I also tried to translate "Krähen an die Macht" into Russian( my mother tongue), but it is still unfinished. German has more similarities with English than with Russian, thus it's was easier to translate it into English.
