Humans built a psychotic sentient torpedo with poetic inclinations and delusions of grandeur. Sounds about right.
@henrypaleveda7760
@henrypaleveda7760 3 жыл бұрын
I think it just became psycohtic since it only needed to be awake long enough to blow up (30 minutes was what it considered a long time to be awake). I think the psychosis was symptomatic of this and effectively expanding its body by tapping into the alien network and machinery. I don't think it was intended to interface with the alien tech and used the resources at its disposal to do so. This demonstrates problem solving capability within the AI. Combine this with an emotional directive incentive and a sense of self, then you get a vary dangerous torpedo.

Reminded me of a story about a sentient alien nuclear weapon dropped on Earth that didn't detonate. It woke up and had to figure out where it was using mostly only radar. It couldn't figure out how human vehicles could move at a constant altitude above ground. Turned out thet were naval ships and it was blind to water.

Second story started well, though the literal vs approximation was funny but it dropped it towards the second half. Was also surprised the xeno-reporter had so little to say on the humans walking unharmed from a drop pod! Gave me an inclination to write an hfy story about “human war games” but it’s actually baseball. And the alien trying to comprehend, 1a) throwing a ball at the batter and making them miss 1b) why don’t they throw it in the opposite direction 1c) the explanation/complexities of curve/slow/fast balls 1d) the alien disbelief/subsequent proof that a human can calculate (intuitively) such throws (examples of other sports {war games} eg corner/penalty kick in football { { ADDENDUM: no America it’s not soccer! Only you call it that! You use your foot to control the ball! In American football when do you actually use your feet? 5% of the time less? NOTE TO AMERICANS: your playing rugby, no semi contact rugby! And you’re wearing the equivalent armour (medieval knights had less protection) rant over} 1e) they actually hit the balls!!

Well, one time a torpedo was launched at one ship, but then a second ship shot down the ship that launched it. Between coming online and exploding, it spent some time reading a library's worth of human media, computed the optimal way to handle point defenses, sent its two sibling torpedos on to blow up the initial target, used internal nanobots to reconfigure its fusion bottle for better thrust, wrote a paper on its optimization and saved it to the ship's black box, hacked the second ship's missile interceptors, hacked the enemy ship, found the captain of the enemy ship, and punched through several plates of deck to look the enemy captain in the eye before it detonated. In short: read books, watched TV, talked to peers, contributed to science, died happy. A life well-lived.
