I have a chessboard and pieces that are 100% silicone and they amaze me with their durability and flexibility. I also like how easily clean up after many uses.

Why didn't they use it on O-rings on the space shuttle before it blew up if it was invented as way back as 1940s?

Good to know silicone is synthetic rubber, can withstand extreme heat. Without knowing what it is, I used hot/cold pad to relieve muscle pain, and checked out yesterday some beautiful watches with silicone bands.

Silicon is a semiconductor, and thats why is it so special in electronics...not a conductor.

2:42 - So it’s not harmful to your health... ? - It doesn’t leach into food the way plastic does. Nice, but that still doesn’t prove it’s not toxic. Need to dig in to find out more...

1:23...I don't believe that's technically true. He states that Silicon is one of the most abundant elements we have yet...it's important to note that Silicon (Si) is very rare to find in it's natural state on earth. Silicon or Silicon Metal is formed by taking SILICA and heating it at very high temperatures (over 1800 degrees Celsius). But who cares! :)

They have to keep it dumbed down for the vacuous 'panel' with their room temperature intelligence, tiny attention spans and whos only talent is to interject mindless comments to prove they're still alive.
