We learnt that severity of congenital t. gondii infection decreases as the number of trimesters increase. for eg., risk of severity is maximum in 1st trimester becasue of organogenesis. :\

Yes, That's true. I was also going to make a comment.based on Nelson essential's of pediatrics2019 "the later in pregnancy that infection occurs the more likely it is that the foetus will be infected but less severe the illness" page 449

Great video, thanks! One question - I thought the "blueberry muffin" rash was pathognomonic for Rubella (and not CMV). Could you kindly clarify? thanks!

I just watched another video on torches infections, and it was mentioned that blueberry muffin rash is not really pathognomonic for rubella since it can also ocurre in CMV infections, as well as with other congenital infections

In USMLE step2 pediatrics notes page 13, they said blueberry muffins spots Because of RUBELLA infection. ?????

Blueberry muffin rash is for Rubella and CMV infections.

You talk about mental retardation as being a sign of toxo - just wondering whether you were still referring to a neonate at this point? I'm just wondering how you assess mental retardation in a neonate.
