Salem Community College Scientific Glass Technology Instructional Chair, Bob Russell, along with Scientific Glass Instructors Katie Severance, Carl Natalino, and Richard Brainard blend artistic and scientific glassworking in this collaborative demonstration!
The 2022 International Flameworking Conference, March 18 - 20, at Salem Community College, featured and celebrated the work of artist and scientific glassblower Sally Prasch. The 2022 International Flameworking Conference at Salem Community College (SCC) marked the 20th installment of this nationally and internationally attended event that celebrates excellence in the glass-working process known as flameworking. This momentous year celebrated 60 years of Scientific Glass Technology and 20 years of Glass Art at Salem Community College, highlighting SCC’s unique and integral role in the field of flameworking. Presenters for the seminal event included alumni from Salem’s glass programs whose successful careers have impacted the fields of scientific and creative glass.

This is great. The glass program at Salem has obviously advanced soooo much since I got my glass degree there over 35 years ago. What a fantastic job they've done. I obviously need to go back and visit sometime to see the new glass center. It looks pretty awesome.

Those fritted disks are cool. If they were used in a rig they would probably get plugged up with resin pretty quickly though but I still want to try to use one to make an aerated bubble chamber so as the water bubbles up it hits the fritted disk and makes more bubbles

Complex assembly with $160 a pound color is always fun. These guys do this so casually.

I wish I could participate in the 2 year classes, what is the pricing of 2 years, and if previously experienced in lampworking, is there a way to test up to experience level to save on the expense? Really would appreciate an experience like this, with this much knowledge and experience. Great presentation everyone
