Why do we wear marks on the forehead?
This tradition gained popularity in the Pauranic period.
In the earlier times, the four castes - The Brahmana, Kshatriya, Vaishya and Shudra applied different kinds of marks on their foreheads.

As much as its enforced on women it shd be enforced on men too ppl laugh on those men who apply tilak while in corporate Or any IT or MNC bt they easily accept women wearing tilak this shd stop why men cannot apply tilak and still gain reapect

VERY TRUE BUT MYSELF APPLYING ROUND KUMKUM EVERYDAY IN THE OFFICE OR OUTSIDE THE OFFICE. ITS LOOK LIKE WOMEN BUT FEEL VERY COMFORTABLE FOR ME. SO DONT CARE ABOUT PEOPLE.

@@neelu3515 Nobody enforced these beautiful bindi on wómán forcefully.... Wómén loves to *Shringaar* themselves unlike mén mostly, that's why they apply Sindur on their forehead to show their love and commitment towards their husbands.... Because pouring Sindur, wearing bangles, doing *eyeliner,* applying lipstick on the lips, these are designed for wómén only, not for mén due to the beautiful structure & nature of womén..... Wómén are referred as a part of *PRAKIRTI* while mén are referred as the soul.... And together when they combined, they create a life. Period!!! Each gender has their own & unique way of expression to express their qualities. So they should not be compared with each other over supremacy purpose. That's just stupidity.
