@@stevens5541 Nice bait. I've always wanted to ask someone like you why you go out of your way to visit videos just to anger the people who like them? Does it give you a thrill? Is it fun for you? Do you feel pathetic and useless, knowing that you're incapable of creating anything meaningful or worthwhile to this world?.. So instead, you choose to tear others down? How does that make you feel? My only sister passed away January this year victim of suicide. My mom was so helplessly sad. She also passed away two weeks ago. Her heart stopped. Each line of this song I can just relate to my mom whose name is Mary as well by the way. I couldn't be more thankful for this. It feels like a present for her. Jesus, I'm in tears.

In 2004 i was working in company providing internet. And I don't even remember why, I started to use all available IPs to vote for this song on site of local radio station every day. And asked my colleagues do the same. We had been keeping it in their top 20 like for 3 month or so. It became very popular and other stations started to rotate it much more frequently... They even wanted to invite Scissor Sisters here :)

Best song they ever did by far. I didn't understand the video back then. I didn't get the cartoon part. Now I'm older and live the same life as "Mary" I realise it is her dream of someone coming to rescue her from the empty a futile existence she leads. It's a dream that may never come true and she may well spend the rest of her days cross and wishing she was dead. I know what thats like now though I wish I didn't, but at least I understand the video!

I love the tone that's in your laugh gasping for an extra breath Waiting for the time to pass I believe in days ahead Don't spend another night alone Cross and wishing you were dead Mary, you shouldn't let 'em make you mad You hold the best you can And Mary, after all the pain is gone I'm always gonna live to be your man. I've had it easy now you see When I'm down you're always there Standing by to comfort me Someday we'll go round the world I'll make the journey so sublime I know you're not a travelin' girl Mary, you shouldn't let 'em make you mad You hold the best you can And Mary, after all the pain is gone I'm always gonna live to be your man. Cause I'd give everything i have Forget all the things that bring me joy If you could have one day Pure and simply happiness Until that moment comes I'll be here where I've always been I'm gonna be your friend Until the day i die Mary, you shouldn't let 'em make you mad You hold the best you can And Mary, after all the pain is gone I'm always gonna live to be your man.

Sir BookieKillah yea Bee Gees influence is pretty undeniable with that falsetto they've got going on but with the middle section/bridge (whatever you'd call it) of the song I feel Jake is channeling George Michael before going into the soaring falsetto that leads back into the chorus.
