Mixing things up in this batch, for a few requests...Trimmed some sound effects down, and steam makes a few more appearances. Otherwise, it's business as usual!

You've got some nice steam stuff on that layout - the SP Atlantic is a treat to see. My own line behaves like yours at times - seems you need to fettle some of the tracks a bit, as the derailments all seem to happen at particular spots.

I have N scale walk around style, for the most part it’s great fun and most derailments are self created, forget the occasional switch that stuff and I don’t have a signal system but my next one will. But on occasion they will just pick a spot and pop off. It’s hard to determine why , it’s different cars, different areas, different times, but I definitely enjoy them a great deal more then my HO scale. I couldn’t get a smooth working HO scale rr ever to run smoothly. I’m sure you guys will figure it out if you haven’t already

i know that there werent any derailments related to the brake hoses but whenever i get new rolling stock, i check to see if the brake hoses snag the ties or any scenery around it. if one does, i either trim it or i remove it. (this is just what i do)

seems like there is a lot of trackwork that is (still) needed. Also a lot of rolling stock work is needed too with glad hand/trip pin trimming or adjustments seeing as a lot of them are hitting things.

Hmm, a SP Atlantic and a streamlined PRR K4? Interesting choices! Is the latter a tender or loco driven model? Or does it have its contact points in the tender (so long as the tender's wheels are on the track, the engine will keep going)?

The K4 is engine driven, but has a keep alive in tender. This kept it flying on top of the decoder's extra momentum.

@@alfa1134 decoder- the computer that operates the locomotives lights, sounds, and motor. Keep alive or current keeper- the power capacitor that holds extra power for the decoder to keep it going over dead spots.

@@alfa1134 Essentially a capacitor that stores a little bit of juice to keep an engine moving over dead spots or dirty track. Instead of stopping cold, it will keep things moving until it gets on normal power.

@@SCL3618 Thanks for clarifying. The one HO engine that I ever owned was a 0-4-0 tender engine, and had none of that stuff. Who knew model engines had so much packed into them?

Was surprised how weak this engine was out of the gate, but it did run smooth. Club track just didn't like that drawbar setup.

@@SCL3618 even the K4’s I have don’t like level track, or pull much. I only have them because it was the only way to get 3750 and 1361 at the time. Then I found an MTH 1361 and surprise surprise the tach board is shot. It’s getting Soundtraxx and more weight in the boiler to become a good runner.

The best part is many of the compartments derailed but never did a somersault..so passengers are safe. By the way, can you please tell me how can I own a big ass set like this. Whatever i saw so far was never this big...

Reminds me of my train set. A lot of derailments until I realised the carriages needed weight. Not a fan of today's tiny trains with electronic sounds. Nice video

It was built in stages from 80's- early 2000's. No exact way to price it out.

That layout is not the best for any steam. It is better now than it was 5 years ago. Much of the track work was done 20+ years ago, and I believe mostly by some past members that owned mostly older AHM/Rivorossi locos (deep flanged wheels). The club secretary does most of the track repair. And a 25 x 50 layout keeps him more than busy.

I would love to see your setup my great uncle bruce was blind and in his basement he built a huge layout in his basement and made the news and I wish I got that stuff but is wife and his son sold it all so they could get money off it and it's really sad that they don't care about family and ask first they just did it for money
