Scoliosis is an abnormal sideways curvature of the spine with rotation and Cobb angle measurement of 10 degrees or greater. Severity levels are directly related to the size of the Cobb angle, not its effect on the patient. Mild scoliosis would be between 10-25 degrees, moderate 25-40 degrees, severe 40+ degrees, and very severe would be 80+ degrees.
There is no relation between the size of the curve and pain. It is not common for scoliosis to be painful in children, especially during growth. In the adult form, however, when the spine begins to compress and affect the surrounding tissues and nerves is when scoliosis can become painful. And this compressive nature of scoliosis in the adult form leads to pain. It is the number one side effect that we see with scoliosis.
Scoliosis symptoms vary case by case, not necessarily based on the size of the curvature. As the curves become more severe, surgery may be recommended. While spinal surgery does make the spine straighter, it comes at the cost of loss of flexibility, as what they're doing is spinal fusion. This leads to a decrease in spinal flexibility and range of motion.
Scoliosis is a progressive condition but highly treatable, especially with early detection and treatment. We recommend treating scoliosis at a smaller size. We use condition-specific chiropractic care, which is managed by using traditional chiropractic methods and therapy to reduce the curve and make the spine more stable and structurally sound. We use in-office therapy, bracing, and customized home exercises to help stabilize the spine and sustain long-term results for the patient.

I just brought my daughter 17 yo there. She had 77degree and after 10 days she was wearing the brace reduced to 45 degrees. Excellent. They know what they are doing. She will wear 18 months 22 hours a day.

Am chatting from Nigeria, this is absolutely my challenge for over 20years now, I have not been experiencing pain not until recently as in last year that I start experiencing pain. I just wish you are very close where I can meet you so it can be corrected, it's really making me feel inferior especially when with my pear groups and friends. How do you help me please?

HELLO TONY, I am wondering what your thoughts are on the harrington rod...Also i had xrays done 2 days ago my results were my spine has shifted and has deteriorated..Can you pls tell me if that will cause more pain and where?..Can scoliosis effect your breathing? Is there anything that could help scoliosis over the age of 75? I have bad pain and also stage 4 breast cancer. Could a nerve stimulator help? My curvature is very severe. I can not stand up straight or walk withoutleaning forward alot.
