Scoop Cake Dupe Recipe: Cherry & Party Rainbow Chip Cake - Will It Work?

After reviewing the four new Scoop Cake mixes from Lucky Leaf, we decided that we would try to make our own and see if it works. In this video, we used the Betty Crocker Delights Super Moist Party Rainbow Chip Cake Mix and the Great value (Walmart brand) Cherry Pie Filling.
* The cake mix was $1.17 at Walmart
* The filling was $1.98 at Walmart.

Hi Tami, we call this dump cake lol its delish and baked in the oven. 9x13 pan spray pan preheat to 350 layer in pan, cherry pie filling, crushed pineapple with juice, shredded coconut, spread dry cake mix, white or yellow 1 1/2 sticks butter sliced into pats, put on top of cake mix and chopped pecans on top. Bake until golden brown 45 to 55 minutes. OMG so yum. Chocolate cake mix on 2 cans of cherry pie filling is good too.

I make this in the oven. It is dump cake. I put a can a chunk pineapple on the bottom and cherry pie filling over the pineapple then the cake mix and butter and put pecans on top. I grew up on dump cake. I will have to try it in the crockpot.

There’s a lady on Facebook that shows how to make a ton of different combinations in one video, coarse she says, of coarse to bake them, I never thought about making them in the crockpot. I need to try it that way, it really looks good the way you made it in the crockpot and, how it got much browner you cake on top got, made my mouth water.

I can see soooooo many spins on this concept that would most likely turn out way more flavorful and fiscally conservative than the Scoop Cake boxed brand 😊😊 ideas are running for the holidays. Like maybe a chunky Cranberry Sauce with Wedding White Cake mix 😀

make sure your oven is set at 350 or 180c

Kevin is correct scoop cakes have been around for years, Lucky Leaf just took the idea and put in a kit.

It would be neat for thanksgiving to use regular apple pie filling and add some cranberries to it... I’d use a butter/yellow cake to top... For leftover cake mix... I’d add some butter/margarine to it and make cake mix cookies...

A crock pot and slow cooker are the same. An instapot is a pressure cooker.

Does it have to be "pie filling" or could it be any canned fruit? Also for using an oven, what time and temperature would I use since I do not have a crockpot?
