OK, this one has now been added to my bucketlist, 2024 edition. I did not know you could get to Durness from Inverness but you have proven me wrong. I am very grateful !! Great video... will keep me warm this winter.

Great video, thank you very much. I've been to Durness and loved it, but only just discovered this bus by searching online for options between Ardgay and Durness. I assumed there was nothing, but I was wrong. The video was so well done and for once, because most amateur You Tubers get the soundtrack hopelessly wrong, your music was very well chosen and fitting to the filming. Thanks again.

That’s very kind and I’m glad you enjoyed watching. The Durness Bus is a real lifeline service and they operate a few other routes in the far north I’d like to try.

Right on my doorstep! Often seen the bus, the drivers often pop into the shops at Inshes retail park and also have their break there. Must do it sometime, as you will be aware when your driving those areas in your car your busy concentrating on the road rather than looking at the scenery, particularly on single track roads. When your on a bus you can get to enjoy the scenery even on roads you may know well.

It’s a fabulous journey especially when you get the weather. There are a few more routes along the west coast I fancy trying.

@@Timstravels01 I know Westerbus to Gairloch is on my list, it’s usually parked at VUE cinema at the retail Park, I’ve seen the driver put his shopping on the coach as he had some kind of cooler in one of the luggage compartments! Lol

It’s on my list too! I wonder how many of these routes used to run by the PostBus.

Thanks Jamie. This was a cracker of a journey and a lot easier on the spine than the run up to Inverness! I've a few more bus journeys planned. Hopefully they'll come together.

Absolutely stunning! Were there many passengers on board? Definitely a lifeline service. Did you stay overnight in the village before continuing? Thanks for the video!

Thank you so much! A total of 5 passengers in total but only 2 of us all the way to Durness. I managed to bribe a family member in Caithness to collect me. After what became a 3 hour bus journey I had another 2 and a half hours along the north coast. There are worse ways to spend a day!

Great video! The scenery is just breath taking. It reminds me a bit of the lifeline service between Fort William and Kilchoan in the Ardnamurchan peninsula. Maybe that could be a future trip report for the channel? 🚌

Lovely video of a bus I’d never heard of but like you said, is totally essential for the communities it serves and I agree, it does look like a lovely (mini)bus! I went to Durness once - ended up in a cave somewhere nearby (think it was called Smoo Cave or something like that). It felt really, really remote. Now I’m wondering how you got from there over to Georgemas 🤔
@Timstravels01
@Timstravels01 Жыл бұрын
Thanks mate, I’m glad you enjoyed it. Yes Smoo Cave is in Durness - it’s a long way from anywhere! I have some other remote Scottish bus trips planned but it’s getting the logistics sorted with there not being daily services. Speaking of which - Durness to Georgemas Junction a public transport nightmare. I bribed my brother to travel from Caithness and collect me! 🤣

Ah you beat me to it mate, fancied this route for a while, Caithness and Sutherland scenery is just spectacular! The only reason I haven't done it yet is accommodation prices with it not being a daily service! Brilliant video, loved getting the chance to see it at last :)

Sorry it took me so long to watch this one, what a great video. Is it possible to do the whole North Coast 500 by bus? I stayed at the campsite next to the Spa in Durness, that had the most spectacular views from it. Did you stay in Durness or go straight back ?

Don't apologise! Life is busy. I reckon it is possible to do the NC500 by bus. Hmm you've got me thinking now. 😂 I didn't stay in Durness. I have family in Caithness and bribed them to collect me!
