Are you f*****g kidding me right now these are some of the craziest checks I’ve seen that he throws with ease. And he’s only a sophomore in this tape. Incredible!

I play defense and I looked at these checks and picked up some stuff, went to practice and dominated so thanks for teaching me some stuff!

what were you doing when you put your stick in between theirs and twist it?

he's using it like a lever, sticking the pole in-between his stick and chest and then pulling back thrusting the stick forward

It looks like he's using the offensive player's ward arm / bottom arm as the fulcrum of a lever to throw a check into the stick / stick hand. Pretty cool for a number of reasons: 1) the offensive player's natural reaction is to oppose the force the defender is applying to the bottom arm, which makes the fulcrum of the lever more sturdy. 2) if the offensive player is cradling one-handed and fights the force of the check too much, it can easily be called a ward 3) if the offensive player is cradling two-handed, the check will probably separate the bottom arm from the stick, even if the check doesn't land on the stick hand (this happens at 1:13. the offensive player doesn't know what the defender is trying to do, and he instinctively "resets" his fulcrum by putting his bottom arm back up for another check. then he gets yard sale'd) 4) because the defender is extending with only one arm on his stick, the offensive player is NOT expecting a hard stick check. you can see in all of the yard sales that the offensive player was caught completely off guard. I've never seen a check like this before. Definitely something to add to the repertoire.
