Mr. Hamilton has an amazing sensitivity poured like a glaze over that smooth fat tenor sound. A superb treat!

Each note that Scott plays is filled with such feeling, and his phrasing of the melodic line gives the impression that each note is floating like a puff of dandelion blown by a gentle breeze. Also, the pianist had a lovely solo that didn't break the mood so that there was a seamless transition from sax to piano and back again.

I use to listen to the Hamilton Bates blues band at the Knickerbocker Cafe in Westerly R.I. USA back in the early 70's along with Room Full of Blues. What a time for live music. I was just thinking of heading to mystic CT USA to listen to Gregg Piccolo live who played with Roomful then Scott Hamilton pops up on utube, what a trip.

This brother can play!!!

I was just about two or three years out of high school but already a hot jazz hipster and having such a vast selection of the topmost acts of this exclusive genre. It was the eve of the trend setting 70s with its social and political upheavals and uncertainties that also didn't leave jazz intact and untouched by the world transformative social movements. It was also effectively influenced by these vicissitudes so that its devoted practitioners had brought in artistic balance to prevailing cultural scales. Projecting broad plane in the jazz idiom that the aficionados could pick and choose from according to their musical tastes. The memorable and swinging tenor of the evergreen Mr Scott Hamilton and that had swayed my even moods from brooding ballad to the foot tapping energetic tempo that was intent on strangling any potential depression with any dark notions. The occasion was a blockbuster featuring Mr Hamilton and the irrepressible Texast tenor and the then minnow who would soon make the jazz world a safe to be. I don't regret for having been around his alluring sound much earlier. That was about 1979/1980 and we are now in the 21st century but he's still rocking like he is still in his sparkling youth!
