Written by songwriting couple Tony Hatch and Jackie Trent, this was Scott's biggest UK hit as a solo artist, making it all the way up to number 7 in 1968.

Stunningly beautiful, really tugs and the heartstrings, especially for us oldies who had the best singers, song writers, and fabulous orchestral backing - nowhere comes close today.

This is a great post mate, and it’s a fact that this song and the other songs Scott walker sang and wrote are all beautiful, and I love this song the more I listen to it, his favourite song to me is I will wait for you, and the line, “if it takes forever, I will wait for you, and that’s so poignant to me, I love this song and I love to sing it when I am doing karaoke along with the summer knows, and on days like these, too my songs are my heart and my soul and they are all the story of my love for a beautiful and wonderful, and so special to my heart and I sing them for her, it’s all I can do, I love her and our memories of the past and one day I’ll find her again and this time I will never let her go, we are not done, and we will someday be together again I love you Pauline I always have done and I always will do Stuey xx

In the mid 1960’s I was working for the Granada Theatre group as a trainee theatre technician . The Walker Brothers were starring top of the bill on my last live stage show with the company .The fans were surrounding the theatre waiting eagerly to get in to see them perform that evening . I was already a fan of this wonderful trio led by Scott with his unique and unforgettable voice . I never forgot the privilege of being able to work on stage along with them , helping prepare lighting and sound for a performance that , by the reaction of their adoring fan’s screams and applause , would have been something they too would never have forgotten .
