OMG don't stress yourself out 😂. You don't have to spend a ton of money on top of what you're already spending lol. I would say some warm soft lighting is the best advice. With the small umbrellas: if it's even slightly windy, make sure to hold them towards the wind as if you're shielding yourself from it or else they will fold over and maybe break. Both are never good situations to be in when it's raining.

As someone who graduated college in 2019, I'd rank these in order of necessity as: 1. Collapsable Umbrella, DEFINITE necessity. Doesn't matter how small it is, having an umbrella and/or a rain jacket always in your backpack will save you a lot of grief someday. 2. Tbh the other two are cool ideas but ones you could wait to buy until about a month into classes. Maybe you'll like your dorm lighting, maybe someone else brings a toolbox. Keep them in mind, but don't treat them as necessities.

Hear me out - rain boots. I absolutely could not stand to be in soggy wet shoes after being caught up in a storm on my way to campus. Then you have to rush to class and you're shivering and uncomfortable. An umbrella can be helpful for sure and you should always have one handy, but they won't protect your feet. So if you can, a pair of rain boots, an umbrella, and a good rain jacket are extremely helpful to have if you go to school where it rains frequently. I went to the University of Florida in Gainesville, and they didn't nickname it "Rainesville" for no reason. When I purchased some rain boots and a jacket, it made the long bus rides back to my apartment much less miserable since those buses were always freezing.
