It doesn't fucking matter if you wear your landyard around your neck. People will say it makes you look like a freshman, it doesn’t matter. I wore mine around my neck all 4 years and seldom lost it. @@marimarianations9355 I lived on campus and many buildings needed card access. Additionally the card used to get into buildings is the card you use to get food on campus. So it was very convenient to wear a lanyard. It’s not that bad honestly and businesses make a lot of personalized lanyards now. On a US campus a lanyard makes a lot of sense. So my lanyard had my access card and dorm room key.

@@ariannasilva4462 I lived on campus for my first year as well (though this is a very uncommon arrangement here, vast majority of students rent regular apartments and share it with classmates or friends). We had this card that we only had to use if we ever wanted to get a book from the library (which didn't happen that often). I must have used it a grand total of 5 times in 6 years.
@ariannasilva4462
@ariannasilva4462 2 жыл бұрын
@@marimarianations9355 Using your student card that little is uncommon here. Because of safety and gun issues in the state most university buildings lock past a certain time. I believe 9pm or 10pm. This included dorms. So if you want to go to your dorm or major building past 10pm you needed a card. Our computer rooms in my major were protected by card access too. Only student who were in that card had access. Heaven forbid you are working on a computer project at 1am and go to pee and leave your card in the computer room on accident. Once that door is shut unless you find another student or janitor it won't open again without the card.

As long as you pass, who cares if you attend every class? Assignments are pretty much all online at this point, so you don't have to attend to get your assignments. And if you're like me where auditory learning is not the way you learn and instead you learn better by doing things on your own, going to class is a waste of time because I have to teach myself it again later anyway. If you can pass without showing up to class, why show up? Waste of time. It just depends on the student tbh. But either way, attendance shouldn't even be a part of your grade in college. Everyone is an adult, they're paying for it, it's bullshit to change someone's passing grade because they didn't show up when clearly they didn't need to show up to pass. That's literally what happened my first semester taking English when I had literally just taken it and got an A in high school. I didn't need to be there because I literally took that class.

The “used textbooks for lower prices” trick is probably going to be obsolete within a few years or so. I know it was when I graduated (2020). A lot of professors are requiring access codes to some sort of online program, which typically does include the online version of the textbook along with some other educational program. These access codes usually start at around $100 and only go up from there. Unlike a physical textbook, you can’t reuse the codes so once someone uses the string of letters to gain access to something, the code is done.

y’all please be cautious of amazon rentals for textbooks! essentially, a $300 textbook for say, a french class is only worth whatever you’d pay for it on amazon + the program for homework and study lessons it comes with. so if that same book on amazon costs $15, the reason you’re paying $285 more is because there’s likely some sort of program it comes with mandatory for classwork and homework. the $285 pays for access to the program with a code. so you’d be paying $300 just so you can do homework and study. unfortunately i was roped into paying money for a text book anyway all to even get access to my homework, even though buying the textbook was “recommended but optional.”

Y'all please please please don't buy your books ahead of time especially if you're a freshman. Go to class first, and see if you need the books or not. Often teachers are required to put it on their syllabus per their school's request. Double check with them if you need it. I don't know how many students I see buy books who bring em back at the end of the semester trying to resell them back to the bookstore and get shafted. On a side note, always get used rentals cause unless you know you'll need that book again, chances are you won't use em again. (One last thing, please please don't get mad if your prices go up if we run out of used books. Students for some reason get mad over something us booksellers can't control. Trust me I'd love to give you it at the used rate I just can't:(. )

is shower shoes not a thing that's common?! like if i'm going anywhere with public showers i'm bringing a pair of flip flops to use or i'll use my crocs and then wash em when i get home

A lot of people have never been anywhere that shower shoes were necessary. I always stayed with family whenever I went anywhere, and didn't shower during weekend girl scout camping trips (left Friday evening, came home and showered Sunday afternoon, 2 days was not a big deal), and I thought *flip flops* at the pool was about slip and fall concerns, so when I started packing for basic training, I had to ask my recruiter what shower shoes were and why they were necessary.

My college will automatically fail you if you miss enough classes and the professor reports it, then they make you pay for it out of pocket. If you have to skip class email your prof!!! And just be nice to them too, they're people too and they'll reciprocate the kindness in times of need.

Cheap crocs are the perfect shower shoes, I swear. It also works if you’re at a beach that’s got a lot of pointy rocks or nasty seaweed, super easy cheap waterproof foot protection

Also, don't old textbooks have notes in them? Like, I feel like it would be smart to buy a decently used book because then you know there'll be annotations in there for you to use

I feel it's messed up some schools base your attendance as part of your grade, being you pass all test and turn in all your work I wouldn't care if you showed up every day. as long you can prove you know how to do the the work

@IsabelleH37382 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah but in the future when you get a job you would actually have to show up to work. If you’re not capable of showing up to your college classes then it doesn’t matter how smart you are, no one is going to take you seriously in that profession and no one will want to hire you because they’ll think your unreliable. One of the main reasons I got my first job was because I had really good attendance at school.

People in my dorm have shower shoes then just don't wear them in the shower?! Like you were so close, yet you sit them outside of the actual shower (you can see under the stall door to the floor of the changing area), worse then not having them imo

Not in college but in high school my mom was so close to not passing because her high school had a 5 day attendance if you went over that then it was a problem, but she called out as her mom and would run around doing stupid stuff and went to another university that her friend went to with someone and got a speeding ticket on the way back she had to get a letter from each of her teachers stating why she should pass and got out of school with a 3.5 GPA not bad for missing 30 days of school
