@@violetrose674 To be fair that’s also psychology. Psychology is a lot easier to learn on your own than Organic Chemistry, Physics or Calculus. I’ve done all four of the mentioned subjects, and would highly encourage students of the latter three to go to lecture.

Say it louder for the people in the back 😂 failed my chemical engineering class that had no attendance requirement due to mental health issues. I just couldn’t go to class! And even with all the missed notes I failed with flying colors 😢😁

I usually brought 2 used copies of each textbook so I didn't have to drag books between the dorm and home.

@@marimarianations9355 I lived on campus and many buildings needed card access. Additionally the card used to get into buildings is the card you use to get food on campus. So it was very convenient to wear a lanyard. It’s not that bad honestly and businesses make a lot of personalized lanyards now. On a US campus a lanyard makes a lot of sense. So my lanyard had my access card and dorm room key.

@@ariannasilva4462 I lived on campus for my first year as well (though this is a very uncommon arrangement here, vast majority of students rent regular apartments and share it with classmates or friends). We had this card that we only had to use if we ever wanted to get a book from the library (which didn't happen that often). I must have used it a grand total of 5 times in 6 years.

@@marimarianations9355 Using your student card that little is uncommon here. Because of safety and gun issues in the state most university buildings lock past a certain time. I believe 9pm or 10pm. This included dorms. So if you want to go to your dorm or major building past 10pm you needed a card. Our computer rooms in my major were protected by card access too. Only student who were in that card had access. Heaven forbid you are working on a computer project at 1am and go to pee and leave your card in the computer room on accident. Once that door is shut unless you find another student or janitor it won't open again without the card.

Exactly. You can still track attendance for safety reasons but all that should matter is if they get a good grade on assignments

yeah for a lot of chemistry and bio classes (general series) the homework is online so even if you get an old textbook the access code has to be new and apparently, very expensive

This isn't the most common thing- my school's newest dorms are ALL communal (For some reason they switched away from the 4 man bathroom dorm model)

I pírate many of my college textbooks. Or found used copies as cheap as possible. College book store is that last resort.

@@nataleeisjustchilling2737 I’m pretty sure it means liking a certain genre, for example; if you like dark and edgy things then your aesthetic is emo/edgy. (I’m not very sure of the definition so this is just my prior knowledge)

@@nataleeisjustchilling2737 usually people use it with 2 main definitions 1. to refer to a style (dark academia, cottage core, pastel etc.) so you'll just say "my aesthetic is dark academia" aka "my style is dark academia" 2. visually pleasing "that looks so aesthetic!" "that looks so aesthetically pleasing" etc.

As long as you pass, who cares if you attend every class? Assignments are pretty much all online at this point, so you don't have to attend to get your assignments. And if you're like me where auditory learning is not the way you learn and instead you learn better by doing things on your own, going to class is a waste of time because I have to teach myself it again later anyway. If you can pass without showing up to class, why show up? Waste of time. It just depends on the student tbh. But either way, attendance shouldn't even be a part of your grade in college. Everyone is an adult, they're paying for it, it's bullshit to change someone's passing grade because they didn't show up when clearly they didn't need to show up to pass. That's literally what happened my first semester taking English when I had literally just taken it and got an A in high school. I didn't need to be there because I literally took that class.

At the colleges I went to, we sometimes had the option to just buy the access codes online and a lot of the time it came with an online pdf of the book. That isn’t an option for y’all?

@@hadilayyad6147 it is but it costs like $180 dollars for both and my school uses Pearson so you can’t just buy the code separately. You have to purchase both in order to do the assignments. And that’s just for one class 🥲

@@justabloke7222 what?! I used to take classes that used Pearson as well and the access code was $100 with just the online pdf 😳 we didn’t need to buy it from the bookstore, we bought that online. It was the same for McGrawHill too I believe 🧐

I found it depends on how you use them. Some people prefer reading on paper, or reading larger text.

A lot of people have never been anywhere that shower shoes were necessary. I always stayed with family whenever I went anywhere, and didn't shower during weekend girl scout camping trips (left Friday evening, came home and showered Sunday afternoon, 2 days was not a big deal), and I thought *flip flops* at the pool was about slip and fall concerns, so when I started packing for basic training, I had to ask my recruiter what shower shoes were and why they were necessary.

Yeah but in the future when you get a job you would actually have to show up to work. If you’re not capable of showing up to your college classes then it doesn’t matter how smart you are, no one is going to take you seriously in that profession and no one will want to hire you because they’ll think your unreliable. One of the main reasons I got my first job was because I had really good attendance at school.
