Jordan and Pippen had their offensive games working to perfection while Dennis Rodman's antics continued to frustrate the Miami Heat players. The Bulls defense shut down all three Miami Heat stars (Alonzo Mourning, Tim Hardaway, and Jamal Mashburn).

Rodman played a lot of mind games on the Heat and they fell for his trap. While MJ and Pippen did their usual scoring on the Heat. It was nice to watch.

I've not seen many teammates since that were as close as Jordan and Pippen were during the second three-peat. They were more like brothers at this point in their careers, so in sync oncourt. When Jordan returned he realised how important Scottie was to the team and to him; Pippen's abilities allowed Jordan to still be Jordan well into his thirties, a time when the vast majority of athletes are rapidly declining. As Mike said to Pip while being presented with the Finals MVP, "you're my MVP, dog."

Scottie Pippen's game is was textbook. From the 16ft bank-shot, to the triple threat, his game was amazing. He was/is so underrated because he played with the GOAT. People forget how far he took the Bulls w/o MJ, before receiving the shaft in the Playoffs...

Jordan always considered Mourning as a soft player because he couldn't handle pressure when the bright lights were on him in his early days in Miami. Throughout their playoff history (Jordan vs Mourning) even in Charlotte, Mourning only won one playoff game through 95 to 97. Basically, Mourning was all bark with no bite against the Chicago Bulls while his rival Patrick Ewing and Reggie Miller gave us 20 times more hell in the Playoffs.
@allengreene9954
@allengreene9954 10 жыл бұрын
That Heat team had no offensive fire power Besides Hardaway and Mourning all though Hardaway had a lot of games where he went ice cold at times. Mashburn was no show at times in huge games against New York and Chicago and was a huge defensive liability. and The Heat relied on the 3 ball too much like Charles Barkley said you don't live by jumpers you die by jumpers. I mean New York and Miami tried to play bully ball to beat The Bulls at time it could work but it wasn't going to work all the time. and you got to have some more scoring and both teams didn't have enough scoring.

People forget that the Heat had just come from a 7 game war with the knicks and were spent from that series. Also, game 1 and 2 in Chicago were close, with Miami leading at some periods. I think experience and the clutch instinct the Bulls were so used to decided the series. The Bulls were in their comfort zone. The Heat instead had never played a conference finals. The Bulls had literally been playing conference finals and finals since the time of the Bad Boy Pistons. Plus, raw talent put the scales on the Bulls' favor. That's not to say that the Heat were no good. They could compete against anyone. But it just wasnt enough and for all of these reasons I knew the series against the Bulls was already predictable. I'm surprised the Heat went away winning one, even if it was in Miami.

from the mid 70's until the late 90's the game was a totally different animal. The same could be said of heavyweight boxing. We will never see the kind of athletes that we did in those two sports. Plus, this Bulls team was jackson in his prime as a coach, with his preferred coaching staff. The Bulls ran the triple post more expertly than it ever was or has been since. Remember that 72-10 season the Bulls had would have been more wins had Rodman not been suspended for 11 games.

Damn, the Heat had such a good lineup that year: Mourning, Tim Hardaway, Jamal Mashburn, Dan Majerle, PJ Brown. It just goes to show how good the Bulls were when they could embarrass a team with such talent. Although, if memory serves me correctly, the Heat were injury ridden that year, and never really hit full swing. Shame. They could have been a monster team had they stayed together and stayed healthy.

Miss this physical ball and how there were no layup policies instituted by teams back then. They stood in the middle without having to clear out every three seconds and they were going to punish you if you dared try to get to the hoop. This is why today's game is so much easier as you have no resistance in the middle and there are countless drives to the hoop today - which is also why today's guards and small forwards are so effective. They're not better than these players no matter what young, unaware kids think - they just play in much easier conditions. If MJ, Pip and many forgotten players of that era played in today's game with today's media coverage of every player who is half decent, they'd dominate getting to the hoop every possession and thus shooting open shots from the outside as a result - plus today has so many more foul calls and free throws, it's just a scoring fest today. Back then, so many games ended with teams scoring just 70 to 80 points per game but once the rule changes and new foul interpretations kicked in, we saw dramatic increases in scoring from teams league wide as well as all the starting perimeter players.

@thepakibye Scottie Pippen doesn't travel on a single move in this clip lol. It's mostly skill and great footwork in the post which Lebron is still lacking after all his time in the league. Back then the NBA didn't allow players to blatantly get away with 3-4 steps like they do for the stars of today and Lebron is the main beneficiary of the lax rules. That dude blatantly travels every game.

"i see kobe taking and making fadeaway jumpers from just about anywhere effortlessly" Kobe has missed 20+ shots 33 times (and counting) in his career..a pace of once every 29 games. MJ only missed that many 24 times in 1072 career games, a pace of once every 43 games. MJ's high for misses in a single game was 27, kobe's was 30 (a NBA record) on 11/7/02 vs boston. And MJ didn't take fadeaway's from the 3-pt line because he had something that kobe lacks: Good shot selection

@rfe8nn2 Clyde Drexler said it best about MJ in the 80s: "If Michael had the same [supporting cast] as Larry Bird and Magic Johnson, he [would win] as [often] as they do. If your talking about who's [most valuable] to his team, it's Michael." -- Clyde Drexler: "What does he do for an encore"; Hoop Magazine Season Preview, Dec 1987 With the teammates Bird & Magic had in the 80s, their teams were STILL at least a playoff caliber team without them. That wasn't the case for CHI & MJ in the 80's..

The main difference between these days and nowadays are: Bulls at that time were hard to play, Rodman was a delicate freak that chased everyone, but MJ, SP and others and Rodman himself too were talented and hard workers! Now they have a "I'm injured every three games since 3 years but hey I'm the best NBA player", a french idiot that thinks that by insulting everyone and making fouls they can actually win NBA POs and others that come and go because none has the talent and knows the hard work of winning NBA title! Nowadays Bulls will never win a championship... they can at best go to the Conference finals! It's a shame for a "brand" that made our childhood!

@rfe8nn2 "he did dominated in his era, but thats because the Birds of thee world and the Magic's of the world were gone" MJ beat "7" 60+ win teams in route to the title (4 in the finals), which is MORE than Bird & Magic beat in the 80s. The 80s were NOT defined by an abundance of "great teams", but rather by its rivalries. MJ's era featured 19 of the 50 selected "Greatest Ever"; the season with the most 50+ win teams in history ('97) and 48 of the 64 greatest defensive teams in history.
