Hundreds of Brochs are found in Scotland and it's outlying island chains. Used for millenia, they have been repurposed to suit the needs of whichever society has controlled the north of Britain for the last 2,000 years.

Brocks are one of my favorite prehistoric structures. It's always amazing to me what our ancestors were able to do without the use of modern tools. Apparently they were designed so that the airflow kept them warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Ancient humans were less primitive and far more intelligent than we'd like to believe. 😂you hit the broch, dun, tel, motte, bailey, hill, keep, fort on the head there mate. Ritualistic purposes is the fall back term for "Idunno" Getting lost. MM
