What a wonderful journey through magical countryside. My husband and I visited a family in the highlands almost 20 years ago. We also drive from Edinburg to the northern lands and it was beyond beautiful. We were in Scotland for 2 weeks in August. It is a stunning country. Hit most of the places you visited and hiked the Old Man of Storr as well as other places. Even had Cullen Skink. Watching your video makes me miss it already. We will definitely be back some day.

I can relate to that, as sometimes I find the canned music that people get for free, very frenetic and distracting. This music seems to go well with the theme of people in retirement, who still connect as a couple and are enjoying living life together to the fullest for as long as they can!

I have a request. Either in your videos, or in your blog, please add information on how you did your laundry. Are there laundramats? Did you have to bring your own laundry detergent? How many days of clean clothes did you need between laundramats? In a recent video, you said you don’t use Airbnbs anymore, so how do you have access to a washing machine? We also use on occasion a drone, an insta360, a Sony camera, and lately we have been using our Iphone 14's a lot more. They are so easy to use and the stabilization is amazing. This is off topic but since it's a recent post - I usually watch your how to videos. Can you make one that explains about cell phones and different countries and SIM cards? I keep hearing about people going to other countries and having to drop into a store and buy a SIM card. I'm guessing this is something you would have come across. I, on the other hand, have never been out of the US since cell phones existed. And I am truly clueless on this topic. (My last cellphone didn't even have a SIM card and the one before that wasn't a smartphone. I'm super thrifty. I had a flip phone for 9 years until 2014 when I switched back to TracFone from Virgin Mobile because I wanted a smartphone and because it was cheaper. And then in 2019 I had to get a new phone because my smartphone was CDMA. So at least now I have a SIM card even if I don't know where it is because my brother installed it (after he bought it from eBay)).

Hi guys loved this video. I left Scotland when I was 19 and would love to go back and do this road trip with my husband. Not sure if I missed it but how many days did you spend in Scotland and would you consider doing a cost breakdown of this trip I’m sure a lot of people would be interested as it’s a very popular destination.

Yay! A new video! I'm trying to decide if I should do Scotland for two weeks, England for two weeks or one week of each in September 2024. How long did you spend in Scotland total? It looks like you covered a lot of ground (With that side trip to the Faroe Islands also?! It looks wonderful!). I'm interested in your thoughts since you have done both countries (I would not be staying in London for even a full week if only doing England!) Thanks!

Sounds like you’ve got an exciting adventure ahead. What are you wanting to see in England? I’ve been 3x recently and had a 10 day itinerary. Scotland is so beautiful too you won’t want to miss any of the highlights but could possibly be accomplished in 6-8 packed days. Happy travels!

Thanks. It would be more difficult, but less stressful. You can google Scotland train map and get a good idea of the places you could go. You could easily go to all the major cities, but you will need to find tours or other options for areas outside the cities. John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/

Yes we have and loved it. We visited Dubrovnik, Split, Hvar, Zadar, Zagreb, and Plitvice NP. We loved all of them. We were working on our website at that time and didn't do any YT videos. You'd be surprised how quickly your brain can switch. I drove in England, Japan, Botswana, and South Africa. If I can do it, you can do it 😊 You can always tell who the newbies are by how the windshield wipers turn on every time they make a turn. The turn signal vs wipers 😂

Yes, it doesn't take too long. Driving on the left isn't the problem in Scotland, it is the tour buses, narrow roads with no shoulders, and rainy weather!! John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/

I'm sure bagpipes would be beautiful, but when I edited this, it was my mood that day. I put an actually bagpipe player in the week before, so I didn't want to repeat it.
