In today's video, we are checking out some extremely affordable in ear monitor systems by Anleon. The S1 is the stereo wired option for $45 and the S2 is a stereo wireless options for only $90s. There is also the S3, which I will review in a separate video. These have been the most asked for product reviews on my channel so far. Thanks to Anleon for sending me these to try out (not a paid video). Also, you have a chance to win the S2!

Just like to add my two cents: I bought the S2 a few weeks back and finally got to try it out on a gig the other night. It worked perfectly! I was very impressed. No dropouts, and the audio came in nice and clear. It was also my first time using IEMs and I could hear things so well it almost felt like I was cheating somehow.

The scammers have found their way into the comment section of this video guys. Please do not respond to them. I will NEVER ask you for money for shipping or anything like that. The scam is very common on youtube. The scammer sets their picture to my picture, sets their name to my name followed by a whatsapp number and tells you to reach out to the whatsapp number in their name. That's ALWAYS a scammer. On any video that you see on KZfaq. Thanks guys!

KZfaq bots find any channel that gets a little traction. I don’t have a massive channel by any means, but the bigger the channel, the more often they will be there. I try to warn people in every video when I do a giveaway and post a picture of what they look like. Unfortunately some people still fall for it. I despise scammers.

Thank you. I never realized there were wireless systems in my price point. My music stores only carried the more expensive Shure and Sennheiser units and told me that the more affordable stuff was was "all crap". You are using the more affordable stuff at large concert venues and stages. A real eye opener.
@ScottUhlMusic
@ScottUhlMusic Жыл бұрын
The Shure and sennheiser stuff are definitely better. But the S3 is a really good competitor to them. Same with Phenyx Pro. The s2 is good for solo/duo/acoustic acts without a lot of wireless already there. But there is good cheap stuff out there

I just used the S2 yesterday for two big gigs, full rock band, with six instrument wireless transmitters on stage, two anleons s2 and one another IEM from another brand and everything worked just fine. I didn’t get any dropouts. The compressed sound thing does seem to be true, but nothing to get desperate about. And I didn’t even use it in stereo, but it was good. A month ago I used the lekato, small, very cheap one that you reviewed, and that thing just gave me loads of dropouts the whole gig. Not the case with the anleon s2. At least not for me and in my scenario. Thanks for the review, Scott! Been watching you for sometime! Keep on!
@ScottUhlMusic
@ScottUhlMusic Жыл бұрын
Wow that’s awesome! Glad they’ve worked out so well! Thanks for commenting your experience. I do think these can work well, and they will work. But with only 6 channels I would recommend the S3 for gigs with more wireless on stage. The Lekato MS1 definitely shouldn’t be for bands. More solo/duo or practice. Especially being on 2.4Ghz and without being able to change channels. And I’m glad to hear someone else has the same tone philosophy as me. “Eh, yeah it’s a little compressed but it gets the job done.” That’s definitely my mindset with great too 🤘
@bigeyes1974
@bigeyes1974 Жыл бұрын
@@ScottUhlMusic yeah, I do agree the S3 would offer a safer environment for sure. It was a concert for one thousand people or more, in the parking lot of a mall. So I think for the price it worked really well. The guys from the event had a bunch of shures and seinheisers to lend us, but I wanted to test the cheap stuff! Maybe we got lucky, maybe not. Definitely the S3 would have been a safer choice, but the S2 did work. Let’s see in the future how’s gonna go for other locations and situations. I’ll let you know!!!

Your vids have been exceedingly useful for me in getting my band up and running with our monitor world. A couple of the guys are pretty far behind the curve, tech-wise, so it's been nice getting down to earth info on backing tracks and monitoring solutions like this. I wanted to mention something for S1 users. Clever that the unit has a mic thread insert on it. I've found these clamps made by Gibraltar called the SC-DMM clamps that have a gooseneck thread on them. They can be mounted anywhere that can accommodate a small clamp and thread anything that takes those same threads. I think this would be a clever solution for that. I use these same clamps under-mounted on the ride and crash cymbals (and hi hat!) for the overhead mic holders so I don't use up a clunky mic stand next to the drummer to accommodate an overhead mic. Thanks again for your content! I'm already subbed.

Thanks Scott, I am new to this channel but learning so much about wireless. I bought the Lekato WS70 & Phenyx PGT12 guitar/bass UHF wireless for home application, and they are outstanding as you described. There are sooo many to choose from, and the knowledge you generate is very valuable (especially regarding latency, and frequency band). I will also check this in ear monitor. I have never used any thus as you said, getting use to it at home is a good idea.

I sometimes use the Behringer version of the S1 (P1) with one project, and instead of dragging around XLR cables we thread the P1s onto mic stands and use (good) headphone extension cables with plenty of strain relief at the S1 (P1 for us). You could do the same with the wireless setup as a backup option in case you start getting a lot of interference.

I use a nice set of IEM when I play live and cheaper set for home practice. $90 is pretty effn sweet for what ya get! And yea, you can find absolutely killer ear buds on amazon for $20-$80. My $50 5 driver KZ buds i found on Amazon crushed my $100 Sure set in sound quality. Just upgraded to a 7 driver set for all of $70 and they're fantastic as well. Great review as always. I'm getting quite the collection of inexpensive things I don't need but couldn't pass on because the deal was too good thanks to this channel haha.

Since the pandemic we've been switching over to DI's with HX Stomps and now we need to sell our amps and get on the wireless! Great tips. I'm thinking maybe and S1 for the drummer and S3's for the rest of the band. I need to binge the rest of your wireless videos first though!

I've been using the S2 since 2017, and it's a really good deal. It works perfectly fine for gigs, I run mine through a tiny mixer that sits in my rack so that I can control everything that gets into it and I've never had an issue. I play metal, and with my band we use a few of these, but we use different frequencies, eg. Mine is in the 500 something mhz range, my guitarist's is in the 670 mhz range, so we have no issue with interference. I highly recommend them. It doesn't make sense to spend so much money on a higher end system unless your band brings in a ton of money, and even then, it's good enough to hear yourself well.

The S2 works well for metal? It doesn’t feel “overloaded”? That’s good to know! I didn’t expect that
@jmbullet
@jmbullet Жыл бұрын
@@ScottUhlMusic The only time it ever felt overloaded was when the entire band shared a mix and I have good Shure earbuds and my bassist was using crap tier earbuds and asking for more bass in the mix so we couldn't hear the vocals or keyboards at all. But if everyone has their own mix, or at least uses similar earbuds, not a problem at all. That one gig is what drove me to change my system (my bandmates were all piggybacking off my transmitter, they only bought receivers, so I sold them mine and I bought another set (still an anleon s2) in another frequency range, and I haven't had a problem since.) Now the guitarists and the bass player use the same set and never complain, I use mine (vocals+keyboards and guitar on some songs) and the drummer uses an S1. No issue at all. In another band we had another vocalist and she used her own unit as well and we never ran into any issues, with 2 sets in the 670-680 mhz range on different channels and mine in the 526-535 mhz range. Played a ton of shows, and never had any issues with interference either.

Thanks Scotts for this review. It sounds good! I discovered your channel by searching for backtrack topics. And I took the opportunity to buy the Lekato MS 1 thanks to your video on it! I shared this channel to my band! And now everyone has a MS1. Sometimes, we have disturbance with 2.4gHz. So… I really need this giveaway 😅
@ScottUhlMusic
@ScottUhlMusic Жыл бұрын
Yeah, you definitely don’t want to use a bunch of MS1 hahaha and I mention that in the video specifically. I wouldn’t use more than 2 max. And even then, it’s not meant for full band shows (although it will work sometimes). The S3 would be a good one to look into for sure! But even just getting someone off of the MS1 and onto the S2 would be helpful for sure! Always limit your 2.4Ghz gear! 🤘

Thanks for this! I've been watching your videos over the last week. My Takstar WP-200 is dying after 5yrs of use. It gets ridiculous interference when the crowd is between the transmitter and the stage. The mixers are sometimes behind the crowd on some venues we play in, and i cannot use the IEM anymore 🤣 when the mixer is behind or beside the stage, interference is zero. Thanks for your reviews! It would be awesome to see different placements of the transmitters in your real life testing experiments 😁 I'm planning to replace the Takstar really soon so I'm interested in the next video of the S3!

The S1 is the exact copy of the Behringer PowerPlay P1 that I have been using for years (rehearsals and gigs). A very good wired solution, except for the on/off button that is a bit too sensitive, I often gotit from my gigbag only to see that it drained the battery.

I believe the s2 transmits audio as an analog signal, while most recent systems digitize the audio over the link. Such systems tend to have more hiss and interference and a lower SNR, but they are less expensive.

Nice review Scott. Looking forward to the review on the ver. 3. I use the G3, also. I've reached out to Sennheiser and Sweetwater, etc., do you happen to have any insight on why the newer models have removed the 5 band EQ? Also, have you noticed on the G3 that the gain staging has to be just right or they don't really clean up until around 4 on the pack? Again, great reviews.
@ScottUhlMusic
@ScottUhlMusic Жыл бұрын
I didn’t know they removed the 5 band eq on the G4, that’s interesting! I don’t normally eq from my pack though, so that’s on for me. And I personally haven’t noticed that about the gain staging on the Sennheisers… but I mostly have digital mixers so every has already been set a long time ago and it’s just small adjustments from show to show
