Scotty, is a 99 Dodge Durango a good car? I told my mother no, but she want's to keep it since it's the only thing we got, but we've kept it since it's the only thing we got for maybe 14 years, it's just having things break here and there. The bearings go on it, the battery keeps getting drained, and the heater does not work. Many other things wrong with it other than that.

I would be surprised, if the new Accord's small turbo engines are able to come close to 250k miles, especially being as reliable and problem free as the former normally aspirated were. Of course, what does that matter, since we'll all be driving electric cars anyways. Another way to take the individuality, excitement, and wonder out of life. Already, most cars follow the 𝗕𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 philosophy for color, being mostly shades of grey, inside and out. Sorry about that last part, but something to think about.

@melvindesmond2134
@melvindesmond2134 3 жыл бұрын
@@calvin9187 First reason is the Accord & the corolla isn't in the same class, the civic & corolla are in that class. Second reason is Toyota's aren't immune to reliability issues, like every car manufacturer they have their share of issues. Third reason is it depends on what you want in a car, for me I find Toyota's to be very boring😴 on the outside & dated on the insides. The driving dynamics when compared to a Honda or Mazda, the Toyota's are behind. If you're concerned about reliability, the Accord & Civic matches the Camry & the Corolla. I've owned 4 generations of Accord's and never had any major issues with them. Again it all comes down to personal preference, My wife also owned a Mazda 3 & a Mazda protégé and had no issues.

@@Symphoniics that's great! Id say the main differences are: 1. Accords are much much rougher and stiffer cars. The suspensions.could not be any more different 2. In my mind, the are two completely different cars, not that one is better than the other.

I just sold my 2002 4 Cyl Accord EX Sedan last weekend. I'd had that car for 15 years and loved it. The past 2 years my teenage daughter had been driving it. Zero issues. Only reason I sold it was because it was pushing 200k miles and was at the point where everything was starting to go. I nearly cried when the gentleman who bought it showed up to pick it up. And I won't lie, I've had thoughts of texting him and offering a refund plus some if he'd bring the car back. Watch some KZfaq videos of 6th Gen Accord Tributes and you'll see why. They look amazing right out of the factory, even better when you upgrade the headlights and wheels. Oh well... I digress. As for now, I'll keep driving around in the 2013 Accord EX Sedan that I bought 4 years ago. And my daughter will now enjoy her new 2013 Accord EX Sedan that I bought her. Especially after next week when we get the windows tinted. 😁 Honda or Toyota? Honda for me. There is just something about those cars, they go straight to your heart. ❤️

I’ve had both and hands down the Accord 3.0 liter v6 is the best. My 2007 was initially bought for business use and after 125,000 miles was passed down to my daughter then to her children. Hundreds of thousands of miles later it still runs strong with zero issues and only regular maintenance done.

THe 4 cylinder Accord runs better than the v6. If they got the 4 cylinder & added 2 pistons, it would blow your v6 off the road. The v6 is a heavt old design. Heavy engines dont run as good. The old 4 cylinder 2.2 litre accord engine weighed 400 pounds, the 2016 Accord 4 cylinder 2.4 weighs 200 pounds. It was a Civic engine with bigger pistons. The old engine was so large, that it forced them to squeeze in tiny transmissions that fell apart.

Hi Scotty, I love your videos and the honesty & time you dedicate to educating driving enthusiasts and layman. I have had both 2005 Accord, 2014 Camry, and 2015 Accord. I loved the 2014 Camry V6. Sadly, it was totaled when another driver ran a red light. I am a big fan of the Accord, as well. It is sporty and I like the solid feel. The only thing I dislike on my used 2015 Accord is the paint quality. I see old Hondas on the road and they often have paint issues...as long as the car runs, I'm happy. I didn't choose to buy a BMW or Mercedes, I chose to buy a vanilla sedan that will be affordable to fix and provide YEARS of driving pleasure and safety.

I'm a Honda freak: 2 Preludes, 2 Accords, and 2 Odysseys. The first Odyssey was a 2006 model which was bought new and driven to 315,000 miles. Still have it parked in my driveway with need for catalytic converters. Go Honda! Thanks for your posts Scotty. I miss Car Talk on NPR so I enjoy the humor you bring into your posts.

I still have my grandma's 2000 accord v6, with 194k miles on it and still going strong. I love these cars so much, I bought a 2003 CL Type-S 6-speed (basically an accord coupe in Acura clothes). I now have a 2016 accord v6 manual with 32k miles and I plan on keeping it forever.. I love these cars!

@@mainiac4pats yes, the coupe has been offered in V6 manual trim since 2006 all the way up to 2017. V6 manual was discontinued for the 2018 model year. Don't blame you for not knowing though, they're incredibly rare. V6 manual sedan was only ever offered from 06-07.

Actually honda has the more reliable engine. The toyota is more reliable as an overall. Honda beats toyota 2 to 1 when it comes to engine failures. Just lookup engine failure rates by brand.

@@alializadah4402a manual transmission accord is the best of both worlds you get the Honda engine without their questionable automatic slush box. And depending on the age of the accord you get double wishbone suspension compared to McPherson struts on all Camrys which is an inferior design that Honda unfortunately adopted in 2013. You can’t go to far wrong with either choice, if you buy them the right age they hold their value extremely well. Like a none depreciating vehicle, it’s amazing

I have a 2007 Honda Accord with 225k miles. The car still drives like it's new. It is unbelievably easy to work on. It has never been in a shop. I do all my own maintenance. Just did a valve cover gasket replacement. It took about an hour and the only tool needed was a 10mm socket.
