Scotty, you are correct. At 2:20 into this video you say you think "Seal Fixx is exactly the same as AT 205". I'm an organic chemist and a DIY car nut with 5 Porsches to maintain plus other daily drivers. I looked up the MSDS's for both products. That stands for Material Safety Data Sheet required by the Federal government to give the health and safety hazards of chemicals. Both products identify the CAS (Chemical Abstracts Service) chemical number of their ingredients as 111-90-0. That chemical is in the glycol ether family. More specifically, in this case the exact chemical is diethylene glycol monoethyl ether. A molecular weight of 134 is listed for both products. Given that they have the same CAS number means both contain 100% of the exact same chemical. By the way, it's not a polymer but it is a material which keeps polymers soft and supple. It has many other industrial uses. It's fairly toxic when swallowed so keep the stuff away from children.

I used to work in the chemical industry. You did exactly what you should. I found the same name for AT-205 but only glycol ethers for LubeGard. Totally possible I overlooked it, or that it’s not there. If it says that, they are identical. If not, they are both glycol ethers anyway. Trade secret info is very important to chemical companies, but the law, fire departments, and safety groups insist on making safety information public. And for good reason.

Scotty, I have a 68 Triumph Trophy 500 daily short rides motorcycle which is in generally pretty good shape BUT , like all Brit bikes, LEAKES OIL. I change the oil(s) very regularly (like every 2000 miles or so) and use quality mineral oil. DO YOU THINK it would leak more if you used synthetic oil? (Brit bike folk almost universally say, "Hell yeah! - don't risk it!") . The advantage I see using synthetic oil is greater protection for a hot running air cooled motor on hot days(?). I'd like to hear your view on that. And using that oil seal additive too? Feel like it might gum things up and do more damage than good (and obviously would not cure leakage from head gasket etc.).

Please pardon my ignorance, as I am not mechanically inclined. Scotty, you have been a huge help for me. How long should I leave the seal fixx in for, before changing to regular oil? Also, this is supposed to stop leaks and things like that, would it possibly mess up my oil filter? Again, pardon my ignorance, I'm sure they've thought of that and have addressed it, just my concern though as someone who has a 20 year old vehicle and not much money.

BAD leak on the shift linkage seal on manual transaxle. I cleaned seal with carb cleaner from outside. I then took a qtip and spread a small amount of ATP on seal. The next day the flow of gear oil had stopped from seal. It has been a month and seal is dry as a bone. Update: Put this in a 91 Audi transaxle mixed with 75-90w gear oil. Slowed the leak but after 500 miles destroyed all the seals which required transaxle removal to replace all the seals. Seals were extremely over swollen and it would leak puddles in my driveway along with coating the clutch with gear oil. Before adding this just had some drips and no issues with clutch getting coated. I used the correct amount, but be aware after a few 100 miles this additive may over swell your seals causing costly transmission / transaxle to replace seals. Make sure your mechanic flushes all the old fluid out or your new seals will over swell if any of this product is still left in the transmission.

Scotty, can you please recommend an oil brand and weight for a high mileage AMC 360 that I use to putter around town in a mild climate? It has seal leaks so would this product be a good idea for such an old engine? Thank you.

Will do this if needed. In the old days, as Scotty mentioned, I would dry the engine and trans off. I would then tweak all the bolts on the valve cover, oil pan, trans pan, anything that might leak. Then run the car or truck for a couple of days and look for leaks. Then you got it. One drawback to this is air flow under the hood can blow the oil back to give you the wrong idea of what's leaking. But I never got confused by this cuz I'm a genius!! 😋🧠

Also don’t forget a transmission service for autos. Minimum every 50k miles or 5 years you should be dropping the pan and doing a full trans service with new filter and filling it with fresh full synthetic fluid of the required type. I don’t care if the car comes with “lifetime” fluid (I’m looking at you Volkswagen) transmission fluid is transmission fluid and it’s good for 50k miles. Some types and blends may be safe to go a little more than that but this will ensure an auto trans to last the life of the vehicle. What do you think @scotty Kilmer
