Hi Scotty from Sunny England LOL , my housemate has a Kia Picanto 1 litre but she always has trouble starting it on cold mornings ,which in England we get a lot of, i think it could be down to her battery or the crank sensor? i feel sorry for her as its not an old car , its only done 23 thousand miles and is 2 years old , where as my own car is 13 years old but is a Mitsubishi never had an engine problem yet, good old JDM reliability.

I drive a 2012 Hyundai Elantra as my daily. Just passed 200k and still running strong. Transmission has always slipped a little and the suspension is in need of service but, other than that, still going strong. The trick is, drive at a reasonable speed, don't accelerate too quickly or brake hard and make sure the oil is chaged. A car's lifespan is greatly dependent on the driver.

I bought a used kia sorento for $1900 with 199k miles. Needed a bit of work (new plugs and coils, catalytic converter, alternator, ac compressor) all pretty easy maintenance. But as of now it's been more affordable than leasing or financing a cheap car, and it drives great (just survived a 4000 mile road trip).

It has 200k kms (120k miles) and the only problem its ever had was the radio blew a capacitor (I have a new stereo with an old subwoofer and amp so it was just an excuse to put those in!!) and just today my fog light switch on the turn signal stock has a loose connection so they wont turn on unless it hold it in a specific spot. So funny my kia has its second ever problem when you upload! I just bought the replacement part for 100$ Canadian. I love the car very much, very sporty and gets 7.0L / 100km (34mpg) combined!!!

@@nicholass281 Kia/Hyundai has had its fair share of problems... Mind you so has toyota especially as of recent. That being said, my forte has been exceptional, with the clear white and tinted rear windows.. TL;DR if you're curious about recalls at botttom. The GDI 2.0L version of my engine was one of the biggest engine recalls in history and some of the fortes with e MPI 2.0 and 2.4L engines have issues too. Good news for me, since if mine ever goes out theres a extended engine warranty waiting for me to replace it for free, and I've got a 200k km one thats perfectly healthy at the moment! Also the "oil cap recall" for the 1.6t, since they originally said 0w20 but they really need 0w40 or else you'll blow the engine/turbo early. Similar to German turbocharged smaller engines since the early 2000s, they need heavier oil because those little turbskies get hot. They did it so they could report a couple more MPGs on the specs of the car... Very Shady. In my case however, I drive my car hard, all i've ever replaced are fluids, brakes, tires, lights.. and now a upgraded radio and new light switch/turn signal stock.... that's nothing for a 10 year old car! In my opinion this car is a hidden gem.

We were particular on maintenance (which is why I think ours was fairly reliable) followed everything by the book EXCEPT FOR OIL, we changed that every 3 thousand miles with synthetic. I sold it as of recently, it was bittersweet. The Forte, AS LONG AS ITS TAKEN CARE OF, Is truly a decent car. When I sold it, it had no signs of mechanical issues, transmission and engine were running nice at 115k miles. Scotty is right about the "rough ride". Suprisingly it was a sporty little sedan, definitely had firm suspension, even the base 2.0 was QUICK for the class.

Chinese - Normal Brand names Made in China - European Miele or Snow Maid? or something like that from the USA. Price - $300 to $600 Chinese with an unknown Brand Name. $600 - $900 Chinese with a Familiar Brand Name but made in one of the two main Factories in China that Make the no Name Brands. Pretenders. European Miele and Snow Maid USA. (Something like that) 1,800//$2,200 Good? but break you if anything does go wrong. There is another + Choice. LG or Samsung from Korea. They actually give a 10/12 year Warranty on the Transmission and a new control panel is only $90/120. Price. The same as those that pretend to be Australian but are Made in China. Overall they will be more reliable than the $2,000 gear. Bells and whistles? I don't know. They wash clothes and that is all that really counts.

@K Y Description and operation of pushbutton start for 2018 impala. Right from service information. GM tech here. It's actually not easier to steal a push to start car. Here's the way it works. Doesn't seem easy to me! When the vehicle Stop/Start switch is pressed, the low frequency antennas emit a challenge to the keyless entry transmitter. The transmitter receives this challenge and emits it's response as an RF message. The transmitter transmits a signal that contains its unique value, which is received by the BCM through the Remote Control Door Lock Receiver. The BCM then compares this value to a value stored in memory. The BCM also monitors various control modules to determine if the stored environment identifiers match. If the correct transponder is detected, the electric steering column is unlocked, and there is no start disable from OnStar the BCM will send the prerelease allowed message via serial data to the ECM. The vehicle will be allowed up to 3 seconds run time. If the theft check is incorrect, the environment identifier check fails, the incorrect transponder is detected, the electric steering column is locked, or there is a start disable from OnStar, the BCM will send a negative response and the ECM will not start the vehicle or will immediately shut off the vehicle if prerelease allowed the vehicle to start.

I own a 2011 kia forte and it just clicked over 145000 miles , never broken down , only replaced the vvt oil thing ( myself , cost $70) , no issues at all i drive 500 miles a week with construction and the military . Scotty is right , very reliable but no camry for sure . Very economical and cheap for transport . Costs at the moment 25 to fill and crack 36 mpg , if i use 93 i get 45 mpg . Great car if looked after

Last year I sold both of them (2010 and 2012) for $3k each, but I had a hard time with the 2012 bc the windows were not electric

Ive got a Kia rio hatchback. It runs perfectly 37mpg. I sprayed seafoam into the intake to clean the intake valves. Before that it was getting 32mpg. It didn't smoke at all during the spaying. I let it hot soak for an hour. I drove about 2 miles down the road and then a giant white cloud came out. It went away in less than 1/3 miles. The car felt lighter after that puff of white smoke came out.
